This was a perfect Christmas gift for my 7 year old grandson! I am 70 and have been a rockhound since I was 5. It evolved into me becoming a lapidarist cutting and polishing gemstones. I am still a rockhound and enjoy this activity with my grandson, son, daughter-in-law and fiancé. The tools are very good quality, including a jeweler’s loupe, that is as good as the one I use to assess gemstones. My grandson was thrilled and immediately put it to good use, with his parents, on the first nice Winter’s day.

I ordered 2 of these kits. One for me and one for a friend since we go geode hunting a lot. It is a good quality bag, and the tools seem to be holding up so far. I did add a larger water bottle to mine and some cleaning rags.

This kit is heavy duty and does have some hefty weight to it. I would sort through the bag to determine what you need and leave the rest in your car while you go exploring.

My family is going on a turquoise dig in Nevada so I purchased three Geological tool bags from three different companies (to get three different colors) all were in the approximate same price range. Of the three I purchased this one, I would rate as the best for the assortment of tools - quality of tools - quality of material the tool bag was made of and most important quality of pick hammer for the dig. You can pay a lot more to get a lot more - but for the money and an amateur dig - this is well worth the money

The package came and everything seems to be of reasonable quality for the price however, there is no compass or hand lenses in my kit.
