I have a very old JVC unit that contains a DVD/CD player, amplifier, and FM/AM tuner all in a single unit. This still works perfectly and I did not see any reason to replace it, except that when our old TV died and we purchased a new Smart TV, we found that the TV only accepted HDMI inputs and more importantly only had eARC and SPDIF digital outputs for audio. We like to use the JVC's amplifier with the TV instead of purchasing an expensive sound bar; but unfortunately the amplifier wanted an analog audio in signal with RCA connectors, and not HDMI and not digital. This inexpensive adapter plugs into your optical (SPDIF) audio output of the TV (or other such device) and converts the signal to analog RCA which can then be sent to an amplifier. It was super easy to hook up, and the needed power is being supplied, in my case, from a spare USB connection on the TV (you could also use a power block that is not included, however the USB power cable is).The only small problem I had, and this is on me not the product, is that I had trouble figuring out how the SPDIF cable connected to the TV. The cable has two little bump outs on the connector which takes a little bit of pressure to seat properly in the TV's output jack. I was initially afraid of breaking the somewhat fragile optical cable; but with a slight bit more pressure the cable popped into the socket.I love that for a very low price, I was able to reuse my old combo amplifier instead of buying all new audio/video gear.

It works as a digital converter. But it could have some static from time to time. Could be from the interference of the device needing to draw power. The converter needs a power supply, maybe connecting to the wall outlet is better. It doesn't draw enough power from a power bank, so the power bank keeps turning off and won't stay on. There could also be some interference with it. So you'll probably need an empty outlet around where you're going to use it. Sometimes the sound is ok and acceptable. That can cause some issues for anyone needing constant clear sound. The toslink cable that came with it is also crazily tight. It was so hard to pull out which was very annoying. Overall, it works, but it's not of the quality I'm expecting. But it's good enough for the price, for casual use.

I have been invited by Amazon to take part in the Amazon Vine program & I take that very seriously.I order products I am interested in, try them out and give my honest review on that product.I am not paid in any way by Amazon or the sellers for my reviews.Since I am an Amazon customer as well, I provide as much detail as possible for other customers in order to help make an informed decision on the products. I do not recommend products I myself wouldn't use.I searched the Amazon Vine program for a converter for the soundbar we received also from the Amazon Vine program. I accidently pulled the cord out of the soundbar and it broke so we needed a new one.The hubs found this converter on the vine feed for me so I ordered it.He installed it yesterday and it works beautifully.I was having problems hearing the TV and even turned up all the way, it still wasn't fully audible.I need a soundbar or surround sound system. When the hubs tried to put the cord back into the soundbar after I broke it, the sound was off. Almost like there was some type of banging in the sound. It also had a little bit of static.Since he was unable to fix it, we needed a new cord. This converter came onto my feed and it was the perfect item needed. When I broke the original cord, I damaged the soundbar too.The hubs had to use a different output to make this work.It works now and that's all that matters.I can hear the TV again!!!I am very pleased with this digital converter.

Inexpensive, does the job. Works well for unusual circumstances. No problems. But I ordered a DAC, and this is an adapter for a DAC.

With more and more manufacturers refusing to include analog inputs and outputs on home entertainment devices, having the means to convert from digital to analog, and vice versa, is getting to be a necessity. This device was ordered so that getting analog audio out of a recently manufactured TV would be possible. The converter was delivered after 5 days which was one day later than had been estimated. The device was in good shape as was its factory packaging. It is powered by USB via a USB-C jack on the same panel as the digital input. The is a small, power LED on that panel as well. The right and left audio outputs are on the opposite panel. Both digital audio and a USB-C power cables are included. The converter is tiny: 1.5" by 2.5" overall and 9/16" thick. It worked as expected during my testing.

I got this to connect my 21st century TV to my 20th century AV receiver, which has only RCA inputs. This device and a stereo RCA patch cable means that all of my devices -- BluRay, Roku, etc -- can send their sound through my stereo speakers instead of the crummy speakers on the TV. It's HDMI into the TV (through an HDMI switch) and out the digital optical port on the TV to the receiver. There's no need for surround sound here in my office (I can walk into the living room if I need that) and this is a huge improvement over trying to use the headphone jack on the TV through the reciever. No setup is required, it's plug and play. I didn't even have to buy an optical cable. Highly recommended for those of you who have old equipment you want to worl with your new equipment.

You can use this if you don’t have a soundbar and you want to take the optical output (ex: Samsung TV) and play music on an older system through the speakers. You will need an RCA cable to connect the ends to your device (probably line-in). I didn’t notice any hum in my situation. The audio seems a little low, but it might depend on what exactly you plug it into. It’s probably worth noting you can only go one way. You couldn’t use this to send music to an optical in (like on a soundbar).

(No viene alimentador USB.
