After receiving a notice from county government to drain a large body of water on my property (thousands of gallons of very-dirty, twig, leaf and mosquito-larvae ridden water); I researched all available submersible pump options to find a good one for the money. After studying dozens of user reviews, this was the pump I felt could do the job well, at a reasonable price, and in accordance with the deadline. From start to finish, this pump met all my expectations. If I had it to do all over again, this is the pump I would choose.

Pumped out my cistern in the basement with ease. I tried going cheap with a 1/4 hp pump and garden hose. No good. After 3 hours it had lowered the level about 6-8 inches, enough to buy me some time to find this pump. This pump with a pool vacuum hose attached lowered the water level 60 inches in 35 minutes which comes to roughly 1 gallon per second. The rise is about 8-9 feet. Pretty impressive. I can't say anything for the longevity of the pump since I've only used it 1 time so far.

The first one I bought didn’t work, so I exchanged it for a new one. The new one also didn’t work, and came in an already-opened box so I imagine someone else returned that one. I’ll just get a pump from Home Depot or something.
