Roll up your sleeves and tighten your tool belts because I am about to introduce you to the superhero of basements and the nemesis of flooding – the Superior Pump 92341, 1/3 HP Cast Iron Submersible Sump Pump with Vertical Float Switch!PROS:1. Power-Packed Performer: This pump is more relentless than a toddler on a sugar rush! With a 1/3 HP motor, it will drain your basement faster than you can say "sump pump" seven times, backwards.2. Dermatologically Tested: Okay, you got me, it's not. Rather, it's TESTED AGAINST RUST! The cast iron build means it’s ready to wage war against the rust monsters that lurk in the damp, dark basement corners.3. Sensible Switch: It features a vertical float switch, possessing the knack of knowing just when to kick in! Sort of like a really good comedian who knows how to read a crowd.CONS:1. Heavyweight Hero: Just like any superhero worth their salt, this guy's got some significant weight to it. Portability isn't its strong suit. It's more of the "stand (firmly) and deliver" kind of champ.2. Noisy Knight: While it combats incoming water like a pro, it’s not the stealthiest of warriors – more like a knight clanking around in a suit of armor. Don’t expect it to go about its business in library silence.3. DIY Diva: Installation isn't rocket science, but if 'DIY' gives you the heebie-jeebies, then you might need to call in reinforcements. In conclusion, the Superior Pump 92341 Cast Iron Submersible Sump Pump is the flood-fighting friend every basement needs. Its astounding combination of power, durability, and dedication more than make up for its few quirks. Rated a solid 4.5, only knocking half a star off for being slightly heavy on the decibels and requiring a dose of DIY skills. But hey! Superman's got his kryptonite, and this sump superhero’s got its noise!

My sump died and the pit was full enough that it was 4 inches above the top of the pump. This one shot it out in about 10 seconds! It really moves some water. Can barely hear it running, much better than the old loud one. Install was pretty easy, the hardest part was getting the old one disconnected from over a decade of gunk.Seems well built, time will tell but I couldn't be happier at the moment, especially for the price.I am fairly handy and will say this was a super easy job and I would think most people could tackle it on their own.

This pump is a little larger then what I needed, but I wanted to be sure that it could handle anything. I built a new sump area in my basement and needed a "turns on by it's self" pump. I rarely get water in my basement, maybe 2x a year during heavy heavy rains. For the last 20+ years I used a pump that sits on a flat surface and turned it on when the water started to come in. I have gotten older and tired of doing that, so I needed a new setup. This pump works great, when we got water coming in during the heavy spring rains, in my low corner only, this pump kept the rest of the basement high and dry. It would kick on and suck the water down super quick, then shut off. I drain this into the gutter which empties out at the end of the drive, 20' from the house. This pump lifts vertical about 6.5-7', turns 90 degree to exit the house, then 90 degree again into the gutter down spout. I installed all new 1" pipe and also a check/one way valve and so far have had no issues. I also re ran the AC/gas furnace drain into the sump, so that the water will cause the pump to kick on every now and then so as not to let the water get stagnated. So far so good, I actually forget that I have a water problem until I hear the pump kick on. Lets see how it works during this rain from the latest typhoon hitting KY

I bought this pump to replace a broken 1/2 hp pump that I use to drain a low spot on my yard. This pump is very sturdy and appears well made and the case is cast iron and not plastic. It pumps as much or more water at 1/3 hp than my old 1/2 hp pump did. It was easy to install, but it doesn't come with any adapters for the outlet pipe, so be prepared to hit the plumbing section of the hardware store. I just used standard PVC fittings and all went together very easily with $5 worth of connectors. Note that this pump has a vertical discharge outlet, not a side discharge as described. The electrical cord is shorter than my original pump which gives me a problem connecting it permanently since my outlet is further than six feet from the pump, but that is my problem and maybe not yours. What I do like about this pumps is that there are replacement parts readily available so if something goes wrong it is fixable. That wasn't the case with my old pump and I had to buy a complete new one when one part broke. I also like the vertical float, which takes up less room in the sump so the hole can be smaller. There is no reason this pump could not operate in an 8" diameter sump.

Our plumber installed Zoeller as a main pump and Superior as a backup. Both pumps workextremely well. We could have had both Superior pumps as main and a backup, butdecided that despite Superior pumps being expensive and perform just as well asZoeller, we did not want to take a chance as we are in a high water table area and receiveheavy rains throughout the year.

I do home renovations and bought this and installed this for a customer. Its a nice and quiet high quality pump. It was easy to install and works awesome. It's compact size allowed me to install it in a very small sump along side a battery back up pump. This was a very important factor when I was deciding which pump to buy.I am very pleased with my purchase and I'm sure my customer will be too.

I plan to use this as a secondary sump pump as backup in case my old one fails, this one will automatically kick in if my old one one day fails that I do not know. Before I ordered, I estimated the diameter of motor side is somewhere between 5 and 6 inch based on the product photos and video, I took the 1-1/2" discharge opening to measure the scale of motor side diameter. I posted a question of asking the diameter of base at motor side, a user old me it is about 5", but the seller gave me very interesting answer, the representative told me it is 7.75", I guess she did not read my question carefully, she just gave me the total length of product from motor side to the discharge (tip to tip). I then called Superior directly to clarify a few things, 1) the diameter of base at motor side 2) can the arm(holding the floating switch assembly) be repositioned to the back of motor side in the same way as the video ? the Sales did not answer me the 1st question, he answered me the 2nd one, but did not give me a clear reply like yes or no, he just stressed that the pump needs 12" diameter clearance for installation. He said this pump would not fit into my sump pit. I was so shocked with his answer. My experience told me that Superior front line people is not so knowledgeable to their product or they do not have detailed product info to refer to. They can simply get answer when they have a look at the pump. In my situation I would rather trust a user's reply than the Superior people.Their instruction manual is missing some important features and info, what I understand the flexibility of repositioning the arm holding floating switch assembly is a very good feature, it is very useful for application in narrow space like my case. See my attached photo. the Superior pump just sits behind my old one. I flip the arm to the back of motor side, it just well fit into the pump pit without any problem. This is a good selling point ! They should highlight this feature in the product description and illustrate in the manual how to reposition the arm. I realize this may be a feature when I repeatedly watch the video showing the arm in different positions throughout the whole video. There is nothing in Superior materials telling about this. Secondly, the product description and the manual should state more details of product size, especially the diameter 5-1/2" of base at motor side, customer can check if it fits into their sump pit especially for those who have same application like mine.Overall speaking, product-wise is good, small foot print & adjustable arm position that allow it to be used in narrow space, easy to install and quiet motor. The reason I take away one star is because of poor sales service and manual.

I am totally impressed by the weight and build of this pump. This pump is rock solid metal. It works perfectly with the float. I am using it to pump excess water from a very old storm drainage system that is clogged and broken beyond repair, until we tear it all up and replace with new. Total piece of mind when it's raining now. I completely recommend this incredible pump!Stephen, Vancouver, BC. (Rain capital of the world).
