The first thing I worried about with this bottle was whether the lid was the same size as my 1 gallon bottles, but slightly different so that I had to mark it. But it was larger. then I noticed that it had a nice gasket, which doesn't fall out. But it also has a little tab for pulling the gasket out, so you can wash under it. All in all this is a VERY good fermentation bottle. And I have many.

Perfect! I need something to carry my filtered water from place to place while traveling and this is the perfect size! Thick glass. Nice lid. I’d def recommend.

This is a really nice fermenter for doing anything with lots of solids in the primary fermentation. I used it to make blackberry wine with over 6 pounds of fresh fruit and got over a galloon of wine in secondary. I also used it to make a cyser with over 3 pounds of cut apples in primary and still had room for the gallon of apple juice and three pounds of honey. Not an every day item but it's really nice to have around for special tasks. The volume markings molded into the glass (both gallons and liters ) are also a nice touch.

Loved the size of the jar for fermenting. The jar was in good shape and not broken. The box I received had been duck taped and had clear tape. The outer box was open.. The 2 airlocks where not in there. I'm assuming this had been a restock item and those were missing. Was definitely disappointed they were not in there because they were needed. I would have given 5 stars otherwise.** My original review is now based on my belief that what I received was a defective restocked item.**Purchased again, because I needed another jar this size and it was definitely a different story. The airlock fit tight which I needed. My original review didn't accurately reflect this seller's product but a restocking mistake so I changed my review and stars to reflect.Love this!

I was looking for a smaller fermentation vessel for homebrew beer. I usually brew in a 5-gallon carboy, but I wanted a smaller fermenter for experimental batches. Gallon jugs are too small though, because after you leave room for headspace, you don't really end up with enough beer to make it worth the effort. This 2-gallon jar is perfect for me. I can brew 1.5 gallons of beer, so I end up with about 12 12-ounce bottles. The size and shape are very manageable, the wide lid makes it very easy to clean, and the removable gasket is a nice touch. I don't really like the style of fermentation trap that comes with the jar, but I have traps that I do like and they fit the hole in the lid, so I can use them without a problem. All in all, highly recommended!
