While this does have a grounded plug, it doesn't actually ground what you plug into it...that grounded socket is not really a grounded socket. That ground in the plug effectively goes nowhere. SO...if you do plug something into this that has that third ground prong, you should rig a safe, alternative ground somehow to the device in question. In my situation, I used this to convert the lightbulb sockets in a garage door opener to plugs to attach external LED 2' light strips, and separately grounded the metal light strips to the grounded metal body of the garage door opener itself...just in case.I gave it 5 stars as I knew this issue going in, and the construction quality of the socket to plug adapter is reasonable...just remember there is no real ground here.

Screwed into a standard light socket and used to power new LED lighting from the same switch. Worked well.

I removed the dim light bulb from my garage door opener and put this socket in it’ place. I then ran a cord and replacement light to a spot to improve lumination. This made a brighter solution easy.

These are great to have around when you don’t have a plug, but you have a socket. You simply screw one of these into a socket and now you have a plug.
