Glossy Piano surface that is easily marred and discolored. Out of the box the surface had a haze on it. Also some flashing and mold marks. If cosmetics is not a priority then this is a great box and will work well. If you need a nice surface finish this may not be the box for you.

Update: 09/29/22Original units holding up in harsh Minnesota weather. I purchased another set for an expansion of my current system. This time I used spray foam to insulate the inside connections. I figure once it works no need to reopen and work on it. Although I did reopen one and it was actually easy to remove the foam. No sign of moisture inside. The gasket provided for the lid is easy to install and does work.Purchased 4 units for low voltage landscape lighting junction boxes. I was able to drill just the correct sized hole for the number of wires entering the box and then used a silicone sealant on the inside of the box at the holes for waterproofing. I spray painted the boxes (light sanding to scuff up the smooth finish) a matt brown to match the landscape mulch. I wish I had found these earlier in my project.

I’m not using this for it’s generally intended DIY purpose which is most likely to build something inside but I’m just using these as risers for smaller electronic equipment. However, the plastic is of solid construction, decently thick. You could probably stand on these and they most likely wouldn’t crack. That’s how sturdy and solid they feel. Screws are long and nice and smooth to install and it comes with some kind of rope-like gasket (I assume) that you can use to better seal the box. All in all a great quality box for DIYers.

La caja está muy bien, lo que se puede mejorar son los tornillos, que tienen cabeza redonda. Se verá mejor uno cónico y quizá negro también. Pero si no estará muy visible, pues no importa mucho.
