The pictures make this look like it's made of sheet metal like material. It is not. It's a plastic mylar type material like used for children's pinwheels, just a bit thicker. Very bright and shiny, but I am not sure it will hold up in our winds. Easy assembly. But tired of birds in the barn eating feed and pooping all over, so giving it a whirl!

I bought a pair of these to deter woodpeckers. I mounted them on the siding horizontally, which is not the best way to spin, but it did stop birds from coming again. I live near a river, so the wind can be strong; they remained intact after two months of use. I am thinking of having another pair if I have to.

Ordered 2 boxes of these to find I could only assemble two out of four of them in total. One of the skinny rods is too big to fit onto one of the hollow ones which allows these to spin and in theory reflect light to potentially scare away some birds. Another skinny rod had no threading on the end making it impossible to put the cap onto the product rendering it useless. Would not recommend purchasing unless you are prepared to work with subpar components which are poorly manufactured.

Foil was ripped when I peeled off blue protective film. Base is sturdy, but doesn’t come with screws. Instructions are not very clear, but I figured it out. I hope they do not “unwind/unscrew†in the wind because I’m getting a roofer to install them. I will not be able to access them in the future without hiring help.
