I recently knocked something off a cart and it hit one of my light stands. To my horror, the stand promptly crashed to the concrete floor and the light went black. I thought the light was a goner and I would be out hundreds of dollars to replace it. To my surprise, somehow it survived and I was able to get it going again – there was a soft box on it at the time which must have cushioned the face-first blow.I’ve actually never knocked a light over In decades of use, whether I was in the studio, at home, etc. However, I have used sandbags before in some situations, and they’re always a good idea to have around.I think these sandbags are probably most suitable for light use and smaller – less robust – stands than what I use. The bags are a little small and I had some trouble getting them to do what I wanted, so I went to the hardware store and purchased some straps and clips to see what I could do. Many people will have no trouble setting these sand bags up if they have smaller stands designed for lighter “home useâ€.However I’d recommend that before filling them with anything you replace the included plastic bag “liners†with something stronger. I used a 1 gallon zip-loc storage bag which is only slightly larger but they’re a heavier duty plastic – you can see and feel the difference.I’d also suggest that if you think you want to clip them to something, you immediately purchase some larger and stronger carabiners at the hardware store. You don’t need actual climbing carabiners, just get something from Home Depot/Lower/Ace/etc. as the carabiners that come with it are not suitable for much of anything. Trust me on this, replace the bags and the biners and you’ll be better protected.

My Thoughts on These Sandbags for Photo and Video Equipment:Packaging: The sandbags arrived in well-organized packaging with a nice presentation. Both the sandbags and accessories were neatly included. Inside the package, you'll also find four plastic bags which are to hold the sand or rocks you’ll use to fill the sandbags.Build Quality and Usability: These sandbags are fantastic! The material feels very durable, and I’m confident they’ll hold up well over time. To fill them, you’ll use the four included plastic bags (two for each sandbag). I double-bagged them for extra reinforcement, which seems to be the intended design to prevent tearing.Overall Impression: This was an excellent purchase! These sandbags are perfect for securely anchoring a C-Stand or Combo Stand during shoots. I am very impressed with their quality and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable equipment support!

It’s odd but we’ve managed to find multiple uses for these sandbag weight bags. I purchased them to place around my 12 foot skeleton during Halloween. Since then we’ve used them to weigh down our balloon arch, another outdoor decoration as well as a tripod to record my son’s soccer games. They’ve held up great. The fold/seem in the middle holds the items and the middle can hold the legs of the items well without too much bulk. The handles are very helpful because they can get heavy. So that helps move them around. They function as they’re intended and are priced great for 2 of them.

I've been looking for a solution in my Recording Studio for both my microphone stands and my GoPro Camera Tripod - these absolutely rock!! I've looked at numerous sandbags for this purpose, and they all seem too heavy and cumbersome. The material on these is lightweight but durable; they are also stiff but flexible enough to wrap over a tripod or hang from the center of the tripod to keep it from tipping over.I use these bags on the legs of my microphone stands. The mic stand boom extends over an upright piano, and to keep the microphone from falling into the top of the piano, I put the bags on the base. Weighting on the bottom of the stands is critical to keep the microphones from falling into the piano. These worked great. The product comes with four plastic bags that you can put sand in. For me, they held about 25 lbs of sand each. I doubled the plastic bags to make sure no sand came out. The zippered pouches are big enough to hold that much weight, making these fabulous! The two aluminum buckles are not as solid as I would like, but would work in a pinch. Overall a good product!
