I have a year of work on this tool now. It replaced my venerable old wood handled e-tool in order to fit in a smaller tool bag when Covid had me working from own in my own vehicle rather than a company truck. I was worried the tri-fold design wouldn't be as sturdy. But it's a solid tool. It's dug through all the gravel, clay and rocks that land surveyors see without any problem. It's also much easier to carry since it fits in my backpack. There's only so much we can put on our belts. The price gave me second thoughts given my old one was almost a give away at a surplus store 30 years ago.But given it's new rather than surplus, stands up to hard duty, and it's made in the USA, it was well worth the cost. This isn't a novelty item for me. It's a tool and a really good one. I'm glad I bought it.

This is the right entrenching tool. There are definitely some lesser built knockoffs on the market, but this one is legit. The one I got is in new, unused condition, flawless. Black paint with no dings or scrapes (yet), pivot points and tightening collar all are smooth. Came with legit military issue digital camo pouch (etool carrier) with molle straps on the back, two permanently stitched horizontal straps and two snap-button vertical straps, so it can be attached to a backpack or any other gear easily. Top flap has sturdy snap closure in front.Added a small amount of 3-in-1 oil to the locking nut, and screwed the collar a couple times to work the oil in, and also some oil on the other pivot points so it won't rust or lock up there. The etool has a 13 digit NSN number stamped into the haft. All metal - steel blade, aircraft grade aluminum handleWeighed in at 2 lbs 7.2 oz for the tool, or 2lb 14.7oz with the pouch.23 1/8" length fully extended; 9 1/2" long fully folded; 6 1/8" wide at widest (blade)When you tighten the collar, it simultaneously locks both end pivots of the haft - the shovel blade in place (either straight out or at 90 degree right angle) and the handle.A well built, multipurpose tool. Sturdy yet more portable and lighter weight than a standard shovel. This is the actual model tried and true since 1967 to current by US soldiers.

The "Used-Very Good" looked brand new. Heavy duty shovel. Something I put in my cars. A little heavy for backpack (I have a Glock entrenching tool for that), but if you are used to a heavy ruck, this will bring back memories.

Quality is good, heavy duty. It's heavy for backpacking, but sturdy quality makes it good for camping, keeping the vehicle, or emergency situations. It comes with a decent carry case but the fit is rather tight. You can find many cheaper e-tools, but the better price is usually reflected in a weaker quality. Will update after some use.

Had an old one I kept from my last unit--issued in 1989, so probably made in the early 80's. Just broke digging through very rocky soil. I took a chance and bought a used one from Ozark. Arrived today, and if this thing is used it must have been from someone's inspection gear! Thing appears to be brand new and unused, ACU cover is spotless as well. Feels just as sturdy as my original (with a lot less inspection spray paint on it). Will be getting a second one from the same company to keep in my car. Going to go for another "used" one and hope I am just as lucky as I was with the first one. Shipping was very fast as well.

Exactly like my US Army issue except for two things. The shovels edges were dull and the pouch wasn't the rubberized plastic type we used. But, the pouch was "okay". It was really tight on the shovel and almost seemed like it was a "second" as the stitching was offside, making it tight. It was awkward pulling the shovel out. The shovels edges were dull, so I used my hand grinder to "kiss" a nice sharp edge on the serrated and point sides. Used flat black to mist over the sharpened edges and felt, looked, and dug into an embankment like my Army E-Tool! It Is US made, heavy duty and sturdy. Pleased with it, except for the pouch. Gonna check with a local Army Surplus store about a pouch for it. Actually purchased for one of my Grandsons. He was elated with it right away, and he liked the tight pouch and when I "edged" the blade, he was super elated! (I'd recommend a better Pouch for the price I paid, plus having the spade sharpened. All of which would be a plus and make your price more pallitable.) Thank You.

I am a geologist and use this as one of my tools in the field. It is well constructed and the folding hinges and locking ring are very sturdy and will last a long time. It is a little heavy to wear on my tool belt, but fits well in my pack when folded.

Bought one slightly used and looks NEW! Exactly like the one I was issued in the military. Going to store in my car for emergencies. Excellent buy!
