I got this to replace bearings on stepper motors. With stepper motors, you must remove and replace the bearings without ever taking the permanent magnet armature out of the stator windings... if you do the permanent magnets will lose most of their magnetism and the motor will have hardly any power anymore... the stator windings act as keepers for the permanent magnets. I was hoping the bearing inserts would work, as then I could always leave the armature all the way inside the stator windings, but unfortunately, the smallest bearing insert was too large for even the largest stepper motor bearing. I was able to change the bearings by shifting the armature enough to get the hooks under the bearings... not ideal, but it seems to have worked well enough. I wish the bearing inserts went down a few sizes smaller, but they probably wouldn't be strong enough at such a small diameter.It's a nice set and it did get the job done. I found it much easier to use than those cheap adjustable pullers that seem to flop all over the place. The handle on the metal disc makes it easy to tighten down on the center bolt without moving all the pullers or hooks around. The center bolt was a little too large of a diameter to get my small bearings all the way off the short end, but I just stuck a small nut in there to fill some space and got it off.

If you need one, and you don't have one, this is your sign to get it. This saved my butt twice now and I don't regret getting it at all. Excellent quality for the price and feels like it'll last a good long while.

This is a pretty good set for the money. The case should have been a little heaver material because some of the pieces (like the 3 pulling rods) can fall out when you open it. But the case clasps are pretty sturdy, so it isn’t going to open up and spread parts everywhere. Certainly fine for the back yard mechanic that may only use it once or twice a year. I am rating it a 4 because of the case.

I picked up this set for the collets to use when pulling internal bearings, but the puller body is way too heavy to use on smaller bearings. I’ll be able to use the collets and arms on a lighter puller body, so I’m hoping the collets will work for me.

Working on various automotive jobs, I find myself needing unique tools that you can't just purchase at a big box store. This bearing puller was a perfect addition to my toolbox, especially when working on transmissions and engines.This puller worked out perfectly on a bearing set in a Ford DPS6 transmission and pulled out the bearing without much effort and was easy to setup. Would recommend as a high quality bearing puller.
