It’s very effective for the oversized or “hard to take off filter†You can get a great grip. Sometimes the handle is a little long for some applications but if you get your torque angle right and you’ll be fine.

The wrench grips great and solved the problem I had tried several other ways to solve. Great product! Unfortunately, delivery to the wrong address made this purchase a not so great experience.

I work in oil and gas I wanted a set of chain wrenches for making up my tools on the ground. Sence I was buying them out of my own pocket. I wanted something cheap. I bought two of the wrenches. Both broke in a week. Chain is to small for heavy duty work the links just bend and then pop out from each other. There is paint over the teeth which are very dull. The wrenches wouldn't bite on the pipe I was making up so I filed the paint off and got the teeth fairy sharp which did help sum but then the chain wouldn't hold up. I did like the size if the chains length but then it broke. So I would say if you plan in relly working with them it would not be a good buy.

This device is made well and sturdy. I found it difficult to get chain tight and kept slipping. Perhaps teeth need to be at a round angle to fit surface of filter. Did not remove very stuck on hydraulic filter

Once I figured out how to get the chain to stay in place and where to get the handle top "teeth" to lock onto the filter housing, this wrench did a great job. The first filter took about 10 minutes to open due to the learning process, and the second was about a minute. This chain wrench did much better than the wrap around nylon strap that I tried before. This type wrench is shown in many plumbing videos for this exact problem. Note that if you are not somewhat mechanically inclined, I could see that this wrench will be a mystery. For oil filter changes, you can loop the chain around the filter housing for extra grip if you bought the wrench with a long chain, and use a shop rag as well.
