Great tool for the price its an absolute beast. beautiful finish in both steel and aluminum. accidentally took a 2 mill chunk out of my vise when the machine did an unexpected plunge at full speed. tool was absolutely fine would buy again

I needed something better than the flycutters I had been using for facemilling large surfaces. This insert holder works very well for this purpose. It's my new favorite milling tool.The one thing that knocked off a star from my rating is something that might not be a problem for others depending on what equipment they are using. But I mention it here just in case because it was a problem for me. The problem is not with the cutter itself but with the R8 shank. I went to put it in my mill for the first time and...that's odd...why won't the drawbar engage with the threads in the shank. I took it back out and compared it with another R8 shank. It's shorter! And not just shorter compared that shank, but also shorter than every R8 shank I own. Not only that, but the threads on the shank are countersunk for about 0.2" -- they don't come all the way up to the top of the shank. The end result of these two oddities is that my drawbar was just long enough to contact the threads but not long enough to engage with the threads! Fortunately, having a lathe nearby, I was able to gen up a new drawbar that was long enough, but that was a detour that I had not planned upon making. Checking the measurements of this shank against the R8 specs, this shank is about 0.1" too short and adding the effect of the countersunk threads, it's effectively 0.3" too short!

Cuts great with great surface finish. Hogged .200" vertical off of 6061t6 @1200rpm and after multiple passes with no coolant or lube both the part and tool are cool to the touch.

This cutter is wonderful. it works great. I had to sent the first one back as the draw bar hole was not straight. the second one was not straight ether but i worked on it with a 7/16-20 tap and got it working. I cut 1/8" off of two 1.5"x 4" test panels and you could not tell the cutters had been used. I should get 5 to 6 cutting positions per insert and that will save a lot of money. It came with ground inserts ( i believe ) 5 stars if not for draw bar hole
