My husband loved this gift. He was so excited that it calculated Pythagorean theorem...while I had to Google that, it made him very happy.

decent for the price. holds a charge nicely and does produce a nice laser line easy to see and straight. does measure with the laser as well.

This is probably my most favorite tool I've ever bought on Amazon!I really can't stop playing with it just measuring stuff to see how far it is away and how well the laser tape measure works. It is so versatile measuring in different units English metric fractions decimals you name it.It also allows you to measure from the front of the tape measure or the back so you can use it inside of a dimension or outside of it.It has functions to measure area and perimeters, so many things that would take a lot of time to do manually I can do with the press of a button. The unit is very well built I've already dropped it a couple times and it doesn't seem to phase it at all it just keeps on working.I even like the manual tape measure that's built into it 16 ft and it has numbers on both sides of it so if you're using it upside down trying to measure something you can still read it.Overall, I'm incredibly happy with this laser tape measure and I would recommend it for anyone building stuff, fixing stuff, or just measuring stuff - it works great.

I confess that I was unaware that there exist tape measures that know how to work the Pythagorean theorem. But it's a good thing there are, because I had not thought about old Pythagoras since high school, and I long ago forgot what he did. But now I have a tape measure that remembers for me.This is a remarkably versatile tool that seems essential for painting, buying rugs, etc. where you have to estimate things based on distance or square footage. Also anyone shopping for a new house or apartment who needs to measure the rooms. It's especially good for those, like me, who live alone and did not think to teach the dog how to hold the far end of a tape measure. With this device, instead of letting the tape measure out across the floor of a room, you stand in the corner, point the device at one wall, and push the button. Point at the other wall, push the button again, and presto: in under 5 seconds you know how many square feet are in the room. You could also point at the ceiling, push the button a third time, and find out how many cubic feet are in the room.A "units" button lets you switch the display from feet to inches or meters. The device remembers your preference from one use to the next. If you set it to feet, it won't surprise you by being in meters the next time you turn it on.The internal battery is charged via a standard USB-C port. A short cable is included. There is a 'battery' icon on the LCD display that shows how much charge the battery has left. This device is very capable and does a lot of things. It is not simple. I doubt many people will remember what all the buttons do unless they are fairly frequent users, so this is one where you'll want to keep the instruction booklet handy. As usual, there is a tradeoff here between price and accuracy. This device is less than half the price of the professional-grade laser tape measures. Some of those boast accuracy to 1/16th of an inch. They also cost more than a hundred dollars. The test I ran on this device was to repeatedly measure the number of inches from my desk to a wall that's about nine feet away. I just held the device steady and pushed the 'measure' button repeatedly. If this device were perfect, I would have gotten the same number of inches every time. But I didn't get that. The numbers varied by about one inch over the course of ten measurements. That's plenty accurate for most household uses like figuring out how big a rug you need for a room. It's not accurate enough to use to saw lumber for a woodworking project.

This is a tape measurer which you can use old school, or use a laser to identify the distance where it is hard to do. The accuracy seems good. It is a device that you need to read the manual for when you open it up, if you want to get full usage of it. But once you get over that, it's easy to use and really quite helpful.

This tape measure works well. It seems built to take lots of drops and falls. The measure seem accurate but I did notice there is no way of knowing when the tape measure is horizontal when i was measuring how far a wall was from me.The backlight of the digital display is good and bright and the retracting button is a big size but is hidden in its design. I like it.

Not only does this assist greatly with measuring in places where it's hard to roll the tape out, it even does math for me and calculates square footage! I wasn't able to test it at the full distance, but it did seem to be fairly accurate at 50 ft, so I have no complaints there. It's certainly accurate enough for the majority of DIY projects, like estimating the number of floor tiles, or the amount of paint you're going to need for a project. It's a great little tool, and currently my favorite measuring tape.

General Comments: I must admit that I am an “old school” DIY’er and a user of both the FATMAX 16-foot and 25-foot measuring tapes. I bought this brand because of the thicker 1-3/16 width metal tapes. These metal tapes are wider than the non-FATMAX brands, but despite this, I still experience tape bending over long distances when I am measuring by myself. Not as bad as the conventional ¾-inch metal tapes, but still frustrating when it occurs.I use the FATMAX tapes in my home for measuring lumber, baseboards, drywall, plumbing, ducting, and electrical wiring as well as decking, fences, and the like. Additionally, I measure rooms for square foot calculation of raw materials required for repainting, bathroom tiling, or updating flooring. Not complex stuff at all. I am usually working alone, so any tool that can lend me a helping hand is welcome in my toolbox arsenal. From a size perspective, the ACTBOT is a little bit larger than my FATMAX tapes and about the same weight. This ACTBOT tape caught my attention because it had some decent features that would help me beyond what the limitations of the FATMAX are capable of. This is my first venture into the world of laser.Hence the ACTBOT 2-in-1 Laser Tape:Pros:Both laser and metal tape measurement capabilities.Feet and metric measurements.Magnetic Hook.Double-sided measurement with clearly legible 1/8-inch increments on one side.Laser measures almost 200 feet, and manual measure of 16 feet is impressive.USB-C Rechargeable.Digital readout.Tough and durable. I have accidentally dropped it a few times and all functions still work.Cons:The metal tape is only a flimsy ¾ inch and bends.Black button IDs need improvement for easy visibility of markings.Bottom Line:I am still on a learning curve, but I must admit that I am mesmerized with the plethora of functions. I also recheck the laser measurements with my FATMAX on occasion, just to make sure—LOL. The ACTBOT measurement has been accurate each time. On my wish list would be a 25-foot x 1-3/16 wide metal tape rather than 16 foot x ¾ inch metal tape, which would be a nice touch. It's staying in my toolbox for sure with a 5-star rating.

I was drawn to this ActBot physical and digital/laser tape measure for several reasons: a) the onboard battery that powers the laser and the digital readout is rechargeable, a decided advantage over the button battery tape measures in my possession that go dead at the most inopportune times, b) the combination of laser and physical tape measuring gives me options in the middle of a job, c) not having to look around for someone to hold the end of a tape while measuring, the magnetic tip of the tape and the automatic hold on an extended tape (you release the hold with a button) are all god-sends, and d) the bright orange case makes it easy to find in the toolbox and on the jobsite.Limitations: e) the short 16' physical tape means you'll still need that good old 25' warhorse for some jobs. Also, this physical tape, while well marked and legible, has a maximum standout of about 6 ft before it rolls and flips over. Of course you have the laser option, but sometimes you want to bend a tape for a circumference measure and lasers don't bend. f) I'm retired and the eyes are not as good as they used to be; even my middle-aged son found the black buttons difficult to identify while for me they were initially a complete mystery. There is definitely a learning curve associated with the use of this measuring tool.Overall opinion: This is a very good apartment dweller/homeowner measuring tool for occasional jobs. For the professional, this would be a welcome 2nd or 3rd "tape" to have in the toolbox. I'm a lifelong diy'er and I intend to use this mostly when working on interior renovation work. It should prove very useful for window trim and floor baseboard work. If you understand what its limitations are, you'll certainly appreciate its capabilities. I know I'll be watching very carefully the accuracy of its laser measurements, and probably triple-checking until I am 100% confidant in its accuracy. 4 out of 5

This laser tape measure is a combination device that incorporates a physical 16' tape measure and a 197' laser measuring device. The physical tape measure has an automatic lock with push button release and a blade that is marked on both sides in both metric and imperial. The laser measuring device features multiple modes - distance, area, volume and pythagorean. The dispay is on the top of the device and displays the current measurement and retains the previous three measurements. The display can be set to show measurements in metric or imperial with several different display styles. The controls, four rubber covered buttons, are on one side of the device. Although the buttons do have function markings, they are hard to see on the black rubber. The measurement displayed INCLUDES the size of the device, so you can place the back of the tool against a wall and get the exact measurement to the opposite wall without having to remember to add the measurement of the tool body. The controls are recessed into the tool body to prevent accidental activation and the tool automatically powers off after several minute of no control activity.Battery charging is via a USB-C port. Battery capacity is very good and the tools has not needed a recharge after several week of moderate use.

This is a nice tool for all around, but like many tools that do two jobs, it may lack a couple of points. The good:- combined laser and tape, often I find myself carrying both- battery does not self discharge too quickly- fairly easy to use for simple measurement- automatic tap blocking is nice- magnet is niceThe sad:- It does back measures nicely with the laser, but there is no clear start for front measure- No measurement is provided for tape length, usually there is an indication so we can subtract tape body when measuring inside dimensions- Using the lanyard to store the tap will expose the lens to dust
