How long should I charge my two way radio battery?

How long should I charge my two way radio battery?

  • As always, it depends on the type of battery. Ni-CAD, Ni-MH and Li-Ion all have different charging methods.
  • Generally though, it should only take two hours on a rapid charger and 4-6 hours on a standard charger.
  • When using for the first time, it is recommended that you charge overnight, that is, the charging time is about 12 hours. Some specialized chargers take longer, such as charger-conditioners.

What do I do with my old batteries?

  • You can dispose of any batteries at any RBRC affiliated store. The RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation) has members in every major city in the United States. There is no charge to drop your batteries off there. Home Depot and Radio Shack are two of its predominant members.

Batteries work fine. Brought two older BPR40 radios back to life. I have only used them out of chargers for 2-3 hours a at a time so cannot tell you how long they will last in the radio under heavier use. But for light use they are 5 stars.

Batteries fit and worked, I bought the two pack so I would have a replacement as we have several of these Radios in our Plant. The first battery Lasted about 3 months and was dead, the Second battery lasted a little longer it Made it almost 7 months. Batteries work good, but they only have a short life.
