I use these air stones to oxygenate wort before pitching. I also use them to oxygenate starters. They can also be used for carbonating a keg, but I haven't used it for that yet. So far they work great. These work with 1/4'' ID vinyl hose. Not silicone hose as they can't take the pressure it takes to push air through these. You also need a pretty powerful aquarium pump if you're not using CO2 canisters to push air through these. The basic pumps for small aquariums aren't strong enough to push air out of the tiny holes in these stones. I use a pump rated for a 60 gallon aquarium and it works well. To clean either boil in water or spray some rubbing alcohol on it. Don't touch these with bare fingers or the holes will clog. They're that small.

These did their job well. I used them to carbonate a couple kegs, and worked well. To clean them, you can just boil them for a couple minutes. Make sure you have or order the tubing, as they don't come with them.
