The black and red cables are reversed compared to the polarity of the connection on my generator. You could easily hook these up wrong if going by the cable color. This might be because they fit various generator models? But then why even use black and red?

I used them on a generac generator and the polarity was wrong.. Just changed clips to correct polarity

If you own a Hyndai Generator - See photos. They use REVERSE POLARITY so this cable will still plug in, but you have to reverse the clips on your battery in order for it to charge.Plug itself is decent quality, the wires are very light, but should be capable of handling the fairly low current put out by most generators DC connections.The battery clips were a big disapointment, they are not soldered, just a quick fold over crimp style that typically don't last and have high resistance and are prone to rapid corrosion if they get damp. They also crimped the copper wire against the plastic wire insulation which is not the proper way to make an electrical connection crimp, these will quickly loosen up over time. proper way to crimp is to have the first crimp around the insulated portion of the wire to provide mechanical support and the seconary crimp location should be only against the copper conductors. I think this was not done because the wires used are so light duty that there isn't enough meat to crimp against.

I thought it was my fault so I ordered another set. Same thing! The wire if far roo light and cannot take the heat of the 12 volt battery. They burned up again.Wish I kept them to take a picture of how bad they melted. 😔

I bought this mostly just for the plug. I knew it was going to be cheap and I was right. I cut off the wire a short distance from the plug and added new longer more flexible wire and good alligator clamps. It now is more usable in my case.
