Contrary to the product description I received 2 RCWL-1655 modules. In their form factor and default configuration they seem to be JSN-SR04T modules. But the good thing is that by soldering a resistor (R7) they can be configured to also work with UART, 1-Wire and I2C.Now I don't know if that's a coincidence. But I am very happy because I prefer I2C. Apart from that the sensor cables are plenty long. The readings seem to be correct. The built quality looks great. For ESPHome there is a ready to use component called sonic_i2c from the M5Stack-ESPHome project.

I'm currently using these for a water tank water level sensor. Theses sensors can easily be used with ESPHome in order to add them in Home Assistant. There is some soldering and programming that needs to be done but it easy enough. What I like about this ultrasonic distance measuring sensor is that is waterproof so for my application it was perfect. Another great thing is the 8' transducer cable, that is plenty of length to suit any location of application.

One of the boards that goes along with the transducer suddenly stopped working after a few days. The data coming out is gibberish and unusable. My guess, the electronics are not designed to handle minor ESD events. The transducers themselves are fine.

Purchased item and it set on my bench for a few weeks before I even opened the package. My project is to measure water level in a hydroponic tank. The 1st sensor worked while bench testing with my Arduino Mega 2560 powered by the USB cable. The .96" oled display and the sensor was the only components in the Arduino setup. The sensor was installed in the lid of the tank (a new plastic trash can), the readout was fixed at 40.2 and would not change no matter what the distance was. SENSOR #1 FAIL.Then I connected the 2nd sensor in place of the 1st Sensor and it worked for 15 days and now it reads "inf" no mater the distance in front of it. SENSOR #2 FAIL I even tried to connect to different pins on the Arduino, but that didn't work. Now tell me, why you would purchase this piece of JUNK? DON'T DO IT!!!

Using in low power mode with an esp32 to measure the height of salt left in my water softener. Has been reliable so far.

I ordered two of these, only one of two works. If it does work, it works well.

If you look at the product photos you will clearly see that these are JSN-SRO4M devices, NOT JSN-SRO4T. The difference is in the way they are programmed. However, the photos do depict what you need to know in order to program them.I recommend them, I just wish their product description was more accurate.
