What is FebSmart Self-Powered Technology?
FebSmart Self-Powered Technology is a new solution to add more power supply on USB 3.0 expansion cards. The old version PCI Express USB 3.0 card need to plug a power cable from the Desktop PC’s power power supply unit. Even added-on additional power, USB 3.0 ports still lacks power when running few high power-consuming devices simultaneously, such as USB NVME enclosures or USB SATA SSD/HDD enclosures. PCI Express slot can provide 75W max power almost 12V/6.25A. FebSmart add on 2X voltage transformer on 2X USB 3.0 port, will pick up 12/2.5A power supply from PCIE slot and convert to 5V/4A in total. This card was perfect. I have a old server (Dell Poweredge R510), that only had USB 2.0 on it. It is running Rocky Linux 8.10. I am using it to zero out some old SATA drives before we get rid of them. I was going about 20 megs a second on the USB 2.0 and now I am getting around 240 megs a second on the USB 3.0. I installed it and it was seen by Rocky natively. I didn't have to mess with any drivers on anything, it just worked. I plugged in my USB 3.0 / SATA adapter and it just works.

Plug and play in an Ubuntu server. Completely fixed the bottleneck I had with the onboard motherboard USB3 ports which seemed to cap out around 10-15MBps. With this card, my external HDD enclosures are now limited by the speed of the mechanical disks, capping out between 150-200MBps, which is more than 100x faster than I was getting before. Great cheap fix for my simple server.

I was having difficulty with the USB ports on my Lenovo ThinkCentre 720s SFF running Windows 11. The USB camera was erratic on Zoom. I plugged this bad boy in to one of the PCIe x1 slots. Plugged the USB cable of the camera in to one of the USB ports. The camera worked immediately.

The card is easy to install. I can't speak for exact transfer rates or anything but it just works for me. But sometimes upon shutting down my pc and booting back up later, it is entirely undetected. Reinstalling drivers won't work since it straight up doesn't exist as far as my pc is concerned, and neither does trying another reboot. So the only thing that works is physically unplugging the card and replugging it, which has worked every time. Would give 5* otherwise.

I tried this in two different desktops. Both supported USB-2 and had PCIe slots of course but I simply could not get it to work. In one, it would not even allow the desktop to even power up. I tried it in a PCIe 1x slot as well as a PCIe 16x slot but it just would not power up the motherboard. I already had an older USB-3 card in the desktop and even removed that and tried it but no matter what I tried no power up.At that point, rather than just send it back, I had a second Desktop which also had the same older USB-3 card in and I though I could both the older styles into on desktop and this new one alone in the other dekstop. It installed and the desktop powered up but gave me an error saying it could not find the driver. So being a computer specialist I went into Windows-7 and pointed it to the actual directory on the CD but it still came back with "No driver found....".This was disappointing as it simply would not work with either older motherboard so I had to return it.If you are wondering why I needed a second USB-3 card to start with..... On one server I have USB Drives for a media center (works great) as well as internal SATA but when I try to backup all my drives onto 8TB external USB drives, those that are internal SATA backup perfect but those on the existing USB-3 card will stall/timeout. I felt the problem was the USB hub and having a second card with one or 2 ports (I'd only use one) that I can backup to would be my answer. This was a cheaper solution than simply buying all new larger Internal SATA drives.Bottom line, my problem may be the old motherboards (both different manufacturers) I'm using but then that's what people sell USB-3 cards for isn't it.... Besides, the frustration of my second server telling me there was no driver on the CD was a huge disappointment.

I have a low-end SFF (small form factor) computer, the HP S01-pF2013w. I use it as a streamer/entertainment box and it's performed admirably except for slow transfer speeds and backup. The stock USB is slow. I decided to take a chance on the FebSmart card since it claimed no power other than the PCIe slot was required, and had a low form factor plate. After unboxing, the plate was easily switched from a full size to the included smaller one. Installation was a breeze, the fit was perfect. No software was required, Windows 11 recognized the card immediately. The ports are not covered by any of the computer case.I performed a trial with a large file transfer to an external USB3 drive. With the stock USB port, I got a pokey 26 MB/s speed. Performing the same transfer from the FebSmart USB 3 port clocked at 135 MB/s, a whopping 5x+ improvement. Needless to say, I'm quite pleased with the add-on USB card. I think you will be too, especially in the SFF category where card choices are limited.

Bought it for my oldest pc… bios dated 2006, installed it in a PCIe x16 gen 2 slot, installed the drivers… and hey presto… all works well with an AC1300 WiFi adapter and an external USB m.2 1TB device, simultaneously even! Thanks!

Was looking for a USB 3.0 card for my server (passing USB drives into ESXi 6.7 VMs). This card does not run the fans up nor does it require a 5V power input - perfect for server use.
