I needed this pcie expansion card to go into an old desktop to enable front mount USB three plugs without additional Molex or SATA power connectors. This worked fine out of the box with Windows 10 and in Xubuntu 24.04. Note that there were no native drivers in Ubuntu Mate or Kubuntu. I did not test it with Windows 11. There is a small CD of drivers included.

I read a lot of reviews of different internal USB PCI expansion cards. And so I choose this one. My machine is a dual boot machine running windows 8 and 10. Simple to install, open the can, remove the PCI slot cover plate on the back of the can and dropped in the card. I had no problem plugging in the two cables, seemed sturdy. This is a small card not much to it, I treated it gently. Fired up the machine in Windows 8 mode first, and no issues. Detected and worked right off. Restarted the machine in Windows 10 mode, and again no issues. I guess I got lucky as my card came with a driver CD, instructions, short cover plate, and a screw. Great little USB 3.0 card.

The card was installed into the PCIe1 slot of my Gigabyte GA-X58 motherboard with Windows 10 Pro OS and it worked great and no need for drivers. I had no problem plugging-unplugging cables to either of the 19Pin USB 3.0 IDC headers, the connectors seems sturdy.I also added a "ByEasy Front Panel USB 3.0 Hub 5 Ports, 3.5 Inches Internal Metal USB Hub with 2 USB 3.0 Ports, SD/TF card Reader and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C Port" and the cable plugged into the 19Pin USB 3.0 IDC header. Both the FebSmart card and the ByEasy Front Panel USB 3.0 Hub worked perfectly.I am very happy with my purchase.I have to downgrade my rating to 4 stars only because when I tried to disconnect one of my cables the plastic cover to the 20-pin connector just came off. At first, I had no problem unplugging the cable but on the third try the plastic cover came off with the cable. This is a good card as long as you don't unplug your cable and if you have to unplug be very careful not to bend the pins because the plastic cover will come off.

Worked perfectly right out of the box! Window 10 recognized it right off the bat and I was up and running in seconds. Self powered in my opinion is the only way to go. No searching around for an extra Sata cable! Recommend this product highly!

I bought one of those refurb HP Desktop business computers to run a Plex server on.Unfortunately it came with like 10 USB 2.0 ports, but no USB 3.0 ports. I was only getting 20 Mb/s transferring files to the server on a 1 Gb/s ethernet connection. I installed this board with its mini-slot bracket, plugged my two USB 3.0 drives into it, and fired up the computer. Now files transfer at 80-90 Mb/s, so I am a happy camper. Using Windows 10 Pro, and it was plug and play.

Great little card for a low profile case Linux machine... It just 'worked' with no fuss with Linux Mint 21.No requirement for additional power is another very nice feature, runs right off bus power with no complaints.

I purchased this for an Ubuntu workstation that I was building as the case front panel supported more USB ports than my chosen motherboard. The card installed very easily and Ubuntu recognized it without issue. I Plugged both 20 pin header cables in the ports and all USB ports worked perfect and were properly powered. The problem arose when I decided to re-route the 20 pin header cables. To do so, I needed to unplug the cables from the card. When doing so (very gently I will add), the receiver housing of the 20 pin connector for both ports pulled off the card. Fortunately, I was able to feed the pins back through the receiver housing and re-seat them without issue. After re-routing my 20 pin cables and plugging them back into the card, everything seems to work just fine. I'm giving this card only three stars because of the sub-standard quality components. But for $20 USD, I can't complain too much.

As you have read elseware this card has some solder issues with the USB 3.0 Header. However my card arrived in tact and as long as your careful and not too forceful plugging things in you should be fine. I didn't have do anything else but plug it in and boot up my PC. The two ports work fine and I'm using the extra header to power the USB-C port on my case.

As the title says. Got this to be able to use the front USB ports on the 5.25" card reader in my PC after running out of motherboard USB headers.
