Your cart is empty.These 3" OD blast gates are used to open and close branch ducts and direct airflow only to those machines in operation. This conserves air volume and keeps suction strongest where dust is being produced, thus maximizing dust extraction. Outer case made from cast aluminum with sliding steel gate and locking knob. Typical gate allow debris to accumulate in the groove preventing the gate from closing fully, causing leaking and reducing suction. The slot on these units extends through the base to allow debris to be pushed out of the groove and prevent buildup.

We love Aluminum Blast Gates and dont use anything else. These are much better then crappy plastic ones, who also have the habit to clog up. We converted all our 20+ machines to Aluminum blast gates 3 years ago and never had to clean any. So they well spend money.They dont come with instructions, so when you mount them make sure the thumb screw points towards your machine (away from the dust collector). This guarantees that the gate is fully sealed when closed. If the screw points towards dust collector the gate will leak some air when shut.Because we dont want to open and close the gates, we dont want to loosen and tighten the thumbscrew every time, so what we did is: Adjust the screw once so that the gate opens and closes with some friction. Then apply a drop of blue Loctite on the thread. By doing that you can open and close the gates without locking or unlocking the thumb screw. The blue (removable) Lctite allows you to tighten or loosen the screw a little if needed.

Very solid metal body. It’s not air tight on the shutter slide side. This is probably the “self cleaning†design, whereby debris can fall out through the 3 or 4mm gap. For my application I needed it well sealed so I added a stick-pad to the plate to thicken it and that works well. Be advised the shutter plate won’t come out without flatening a divit with a mallet. A center punch can be used to punch the divet back out.
