Tlence non-slip metal gaskets with the size of 10.4L*3.6H*3W inches each, are inserted into your bedside to keep the moving mattress stable. The slide stoppers are made of thickened durable steel iron plates. The thickness of 0.12" can withstand very strong pressure. My son's platform bed doesn't have inset slats. They are flush with the side rails, so that the mattress constantly slides off the bed frame. I've tried several things, nothing worked. Even buying a heavier memory foam mattress didn't work. I had all but given up, except I searched on Amazon one more time for a solution and found these.Wasn't sure if these would work either because of the slats which are held to the frame by velcro. The screws that come with the retainer bars are not very long. I took a chance by drilling a starter hole in the slats and then using an electric screwdriver. The screws did not poke through the bottom of the slats. I chose to only use 2 screws per bar so they would be easy to remove later and they seem very secure. The mattress stays put!!Something to be aware of: You won't be able to tuck a quilt or blanket over these*. I nearly installed one at the foot of the bed, where we need to tuck in blankets so they clear the door. The headboard didn't seem to need a bar. So I placed two on each side, one near the top and one near the bottom. *If you don't mind the bars showing, you can tuck the blankets behind, assuming you leave enough room.This solved a problem that was bugging me for a few years now. Very happy with this product.

I had a problem with my twin XL mattress sliding off the side of the adjustable base. I wasn't using the adjustment. It was always the same side because it butts up to my wife's bed on the other side. We lifted off the mattress and installed two of these on the side. Problem solved!
