Work well should include screws

I replaced my solar barn light over my shed door with a wired barn light to ensure consistent light. I had to run wiring to the existing light location and install this thin electrical box to accommodate the wires. This box will accommodate 14 AWG wiring, but not much more than that. It is incredibly thin because it is meant for new installation into an existing space that has a stud where the fixture needs to be installed. The box is the same thickness as the siding on my shed so all I had to do was cut the proper sized hole, knock out one of the plugs to feed the wires in, attach it to the stud behind the siding and then install the light. This box comes with nothing - no screws to attach it to the stud and no grounding screw for the bump where it would go. Same as when you go to the big box store - all of those are separate purchases if you don’t have all of that on-hand. I did, so it was easy to grab a green screw and some wood screws to install the box. It’s a standard size and it fits the standard fixture parts. It is snug, but I was able to fit 14/2 Romex and the Wago lever nuts I prefer along with fixture wiring into the box.Big fan!

Want to install a light fixture but the locations happens to be right over a stud? This is the box you'll need. At a half inch thick, this is the same thickness as standard sheetrock. Dimensionally and purpose wise, this is most similar to a RACO 8293 that's commonly available from the home improvement stores. The differences is that this has a raised ground screw boss instead of a fifth knockout and additional screw holes for more installation flexibility. The knockout I needed to use was very easy to remove.A UL approval is stamped into the box as is its capacity of 6.0 cubic inches. That limits this to three 14 AWG conductors -- and nothing more. Standard 14/2 going to your fixture is fine; 12/2 is not as this box would be undersized. Box fill volume matters, hence the omission of an integral cable clamp. If one was included, it would have reduced the volume to below NEC standards. One additional aspect is that screws are not included. It would have been nice if cover screws and a ground screw were included as in lower quantities, there's a premium price over buying these at a local home improvement store. There are no faults otherwise and having a UL listed stamp is a huge plus for installations which may be inspected. 5 stars.

These boxes worked out well for mounting a couple of lights in my bathroom. I am pleased with the quality, but probably should have run to my local big box store to buy them instead. These cost about 40% more than getting them locally. The quality on these is solid, but, since I like going to hardware stores, I will probably just make a run to one in the future instead of getting them shipped.

If you're looking for a shallow electrical box to mount a ceiling fan or wall light or similar, this one works just fine. It's a good sturdy construction with several mounting holes which are large enough to take bigger screws for heavier fixtures.

This electrical box was exactly what i needed. I have a bathroom light fixture i needed to install my half bath. When I took down the originally fixture I discovered there wasn't an electrical box and that a stud was located where I needed to install the new fixture. This was the perfect solution. It mounted securely to the stud and is flush with the drywall.

Heavy duty. My only concern is I don't see a safety certification on it. Not sure if they usually come with one or not, but I'm adding it in case it's relevant for a potential buyer. Otherwise, it seems to be a good quality product - not much else to say about an electrical box.
