Your cart is empty.Replaces the GFCB240 with new Self Test functionality. UL performed a study that found there were devices in the field that had gone "brain dead" and could no longer protect against electrical shock and leakage current, but were still functional. As a result of the study, UL required that all new GFCI devices perform a routine self-test of their capability to detect and prevent ground faults. The device must disable itself if the self-test is failed. The self-test software runs in the background-it will be invisible to the user when the self-test program is running. All Eaton devices will maintain their TEST buttons to manually test the device. Pressing a breaker's TEST button will yield the expected result: the breaker will trip if it is functioning properly. GFCIs are required in any application near water such as kitchen countertops, bathrooms, swimming pools, hot tubs, and outdoor receptacles. They immediately break the circuit when electrical current leakage is being detected, reducing the risk of shock and electrocution.

I bought this for my electric car charging. It started tripping intermittently. I thought it was the charger because the charger has a built in GFI and that was what caused problems with some in my searches on line. I then found it stopped working after 3 uses (I don't charge my car that often). Even with nothing plugged into the circuit the breaker would not reset. I used a new non-GFI 40A in the same slot and it works perfectly with my car charger. It is beyond my return window, so I cannot communicate with vendor.

Product was a reasonable cost in comparison to local pricing and met both UL and CSA standards. Product arrived 2 weeks late as it was tied up at customs. Otherwise, all good.

I am an Electrical Contractor and this Eaton 40Amp 2 pole GFCI breaker looked like new in a box, but when I installed it to protect a hot tub it tripped after a few hours. When I was called back I did all of the usual fault finding, I traced it back to the breaker. I even had it wired into the panel with nothing wired into the load side and the breaker would trip straight away every time. Luckily for my client I just disconnected a hot tub a few days earlier and used the breaker I had. As the hot tub was delayed I have missed my return time frame. Hopefully Amazon will come through with a return for me.
