Having just gotten into purchasing coins, I realized quickly how even a standard magnifying glass doesn't cut it. I purchased this little gem, complete with a super bright light (comes with additional batter; bonus!), and can see every little detail of my new/old coins. I love this! Game changer.

Liked the light, can choose between blue or white. White has a large tinge of blue though so if trying to distringuish colors it's misleading. Just don't rely on the light in this case, but it's pretty good for the price. Probably not 40x though, feels like 20-30x which is OK as i can't hold still well enough for anything more high power. Comes with batteries, and even extra batteries too! Uses those small button type cell's so i imagine when the batteries all die it'd make sense to just buy a new loupe like this if you need the light.

I love this device. I use it so much that I have had to replace the batteries one time because the original batteries were expended. This makes a wonderful gift for intelligent children who are curious and for whom this will be an appreciated and useful device. The small ultraviolet LED is so neat for examining items that have some component that will fluoresce in the presence of ultraviolet light, such as money or the special bar coding that is used on some mailing envelopes that is read by postal service sorting machines. From time to time you will need to tighten the screws that hold the cover of the lens housing.

I was impressed with the quality of the loupe. It has good magnification 40X, and has the option to use the bright light or UV lighting. I used it to view my diamond rings to ensure there are no cracks in the diamonds and to confirm the prongs are still in good condition
