The two layers make it easier to empty. There is a pocket between the two layers that catches the loose litter, then all you have to do is pick it up and dump it in garbage can.

Quite unique mat. Works as described. Keeps most of litter from cats feet on mat, depending on size of mat you purchase. I purchased smaller mat, because I don’t have much room where litter box is located. Larger mat would work better I believe, but smaller mat, still leaves most of the litter on mat not on floor. Mat comes folded up, so you have to flatten it by putting something heavy on it for a day, then following day heat up mat with hairdryer to flatten out folded creases, so to flatten mat out better. Mat will stay flat on floor afterwards.

It worked good with both. The fine litter collected in the bottom and was easily dumped out. The mat contained the pellets, but the pellets are too big to fall down the holes. The waffling helps keep the pellets from getting kicked around. It is the best solution I have found. I have another, similar mat with slightly bigger holes and the pellets get wedged in them. This didn’t happen as much with this mat. I just dump the mat back into the box.

This mat was exactly as described. Finally, don’t have to sweep up scattered litter multiple times a day. I had never seen this type of kitty mat before and went with the less expensive version because it was from a small business owner. I can’t imagine that it doesn’t compare favorably to other brands. The creases were removed easily by using the hair dryer method described. I love this thing! Already recommended to other cat owners. Great product and my cat seems fine with it too. Thank you for making a positive difference in cat box cleanliness!

I gave it a few weeks but not able to use. It’s thick and doesn’t lay down flat as well one of the standard thin black ones. It’s nice in theory, that it catches the litter to dump out one end, but it still gets stuck in the top of mat and flies everywhere when you try to dump it.
