I use this for some hunting equipment. I replaced the keyrings with another carabiner to attach my range finder and buck grunt to my small chest pack. Now when I am walking through the woods, I have that equipment readily available should I need it while walking to my blind. The retractable coiled lanyards are sturdy enough to hold my equipment and I do not have to worry about them breaking if I suddenly drop them. I also am not worried about the lanyard breaking and me losing my equipment.

Perfectly capable for holding a small cutter or pliers while fishing. I was able to pull quite hard on the lanyard without it breaking. The carabiner is aluminum will hold up pretty well to abuse. It's not a premium product but pretty darn good for the price point. The key ring is actually the weak point. Upgrade that piece if you are going to rely on this to keep something valuable safe.
