Finally. a spur center. I like. Doesn't have to be hammered in like some.

I have recently gotten a bunch of BMWOOD lathe tools and they've all been excellent, so I had to snag this when I saw it. I've been looking for a smaller spur drive for smaller projects. This one lives up to the same standard as all of their products I've tested. It does exactly what it should, exactly as it should. It's got nice, sharp bite into the wood, holds well, and has a nice heft to it. I'm only a hobbyist, but I feel like this is built in such a way that it will last me many years of regular hobbyist use without any issue. I would recommend trying this brand!

This review is for the 1" diameter crown spur drive center. It's very solidly made and I can see no runout at the point. The teeth are very sharp and even. The spring loaded center pin is a mixed thing for me. It's a little loose and I had some concern that the work piece might shift a very small amount side to side if I had a catch. On the good side, you can tighten the center point and it won't move at all. You can adjust how far it sticks out when you tighten it so it meets the spindle the way you want it to. You can tighten the center point with the work piece in place to easily get the right position.I have some face plates by BMWOOD and they are very good also.

This drive center for wood turning is made of good steel and machined nicely but the diameter of the MT 2 shaft is too large to nicely fit the spindle. It should set another 1/2 inch deeper into the lathe spindle. I have a lathe with a MT 3 spindle so I have to use a conversion sleeve to use this drive center. By not seating deep enough it can be out of alignment and has less friction to drive with. The spur portion of the center works very well and engages the wood deep enough to transfer a large amount of power without tearing out. Because it doesn't go deep enough in the spindle sleeve it is hard to eject from the sleeve. The center point is adjustable and removeable so it can be sharpened. There are several similar drive centers available on the internet for a few dollars less than this one. Overall this is nicely finished but the shaft is too large an the price is a little high. I would not buy this one again.

This spur fits great in my lathe. It is hard to find good MT1 spurs and this one seems to grab onto the wood perfectly. It is not your typical hit into but the teeth dig in if it tries to slip. I'm looking forward to getting some use out of this to see how durable it is. So far, it has held up to the use I've given it with various hardware and softwoods.

This is a great drive center for turning. Fits perfectly in my lathe and grips a lot better than the spur that was included from the factory. No complaints from me!

Pretty simple tool, but this is well built- solid, hefty- and it works just as I expected it to. Hard to argue with it for the price- not sure what else you'd want in a tool like this? It holds my bowl blanks in place great.

This spur center is excellent for spindle turning. The small diameter of 5/8†allows me to get right down to a 5/8†diameter turning without the spur drive getting in the way. The center point allows for centering the workpiece, then retracts as you tighten down the tail stock, so that the spur teeth securely engages the work piece. The spur teeth are even angled towards the direction of rotation so that they bite in further as the workpiece meets resistance from the cutting tool.Well designed, with excellent build quality and good value. Recommended.
