About this item

  • Automatic sample coffee roaster(110V): This sample home roaster has both manual mode and automatic mode. The automatic roasting mode is suitable for novice roasters and home use. It includes 9 roasting profiles, covering light, medium, and dark roasts, as well as profiles for sun-dried, washed, and honey-processed coffee beans. Simply select the built-in temperature profile code, and the roasting process will be completed automatically.
  • 500g commercial coffee roaster with stainless drum: The small coffee roasetr can roast up to 500 grams of green coffee beans per batch. (Best roasting capacity is 350 to 400 grams per batch)
  • Two types of exhaust methods: It is equipped with a set of smoke filter( which is good for light coffee roasting). For medium and dark roasting, which produces more smoke, we have prepared two aluminum alloy smoke pipes to vent the smoke outdoors.
  • Intelligent cooling fan and separate cooling tray: Equipped with high-speed cooling fan and separate cooing tray, the temperature can be quickly cooled after roasting to ensure the coffee beans maintain the ideal flavor
  • Advanced temperature control: Equipped with precise temperature probe and an intelligent temperature control device, your coffee beans are roasted at the ideal temperature to release the best flavor
  • Friendly reminder:It's best to use carefully selected green beans with a low defect rate for roasting and to avoid beans with inconsistencies or defects, as they can easily cause the drum to jam or beans to get stuck.

I've been using a Gene Cafe roaster for years but decided I wanted more control so I looked at the reviews of this product and bought it. It arrived last night and I unpacked it. The only issue I had was that the tools and control unit were packed inside the bean output drawer and became jammed...like desk or cabinet draws can be when something is sticking up too high. I had to take part of the unit apart to unstick the drawer. If you wonder where the tools (scoop, spoon, brush, and control panel) are pull out the bean output drawer. If it won't open turn the unit on the side and remove the bottom screwed enough to pull the bottom plate off a bit to unstick the drawer. My advice to the manufacturer is to package theses in another box and not in the drawer. This morning I did a test roast. I roasted about 400 grams of wet hulled Indonesian Flores Kamodo beans from Smokin Beans. I used the automatic mode 033 for dark roast wet hulled beans and followed the directions. The roast was perfect! The smoke filter was great and didn't set my garage fire alarm off the way the GeneCafe usually did.I like having the unit preheated so the beans are not baked as the temperature increases the way it does in a GeneCafe. Same with the cool down as the beans are spread out in the cooling tray as soon as the roast is complete.I'm looking forward to working up to a complete manual roast with the detailed control over temperature, power, fan speed and time. This roaster gives you everything from full automatic to full manual with an assist mode in between. The footprint is a bit larger than the GeneCafe and the power cord could be a bit longer but overall it looks like it's going to give me more control over the roast and I can roast a full pound of beans unlike the GeneCafe. It is also considerably cheaper than the GeneCafe...until new tariffs on China go into effect that is.

I thought for sure it was a scam or it was a piece of crap. It’s not. It’s a very high quality roaster. I would argue it’s the best roaster for the money. The infrared element gets beans up to temperature super fast and efficiently. Smoke suppression is definitely not good enough to roast inside without a hood.

It’s fantasticIt could have some improvements where the bean collector opens since mine get stock if indoor pull up the whole unit, but it’s pretty awesome. I use program 012, and it’s so easy,As soon as I put the bean in, it automatically changed the status from preheat to roast. When it roasts, it beeps, so I know it’s ready. Then, it starts the cooling. It’s so easy that you can roast small batches for weekly use, which is awesome.

I have been roasting coffee for about a year now. I started out with one with a very small (150g) capacity, that works well and is mostly automatic - you set it to the roast level you want and it handles it from there. From there I moved on to the roasting pan types with a stirrer, and a Gene Cafe. The roasting pan with the stirrer was ok, but you really have to use a LOT less than the capacity they tell you or you get a really uneven roast. Gene Cafe was generally pretty good but is limited to about 250g per roast. The worst thing about it is, it has a very long cooling cycle, as in the cooling cycle is longer than the roast. While you can emergency stop it, they tell you this burns out the heating elements sooner. So I wasn't really looking for a new roaster, but I wasn't pleased that the super long cooling cycle had burned my Monsoon Malabar beans, and ideally I wanted something faster to do the roasts and easier to clean.Enter this, which is known as the "Skywalker" roaster. This is actually less than the Gene Cafe, AND it addresses pretty much perfectly every improvement I wanted. As a further plus if you are into that, you can get this connected to Artisan.I have run 3 batches through it, 454g each (1 lb). There are 3 modes and to start with I decided to try Automatic mode. I roasted Brazilian beans that had been wet processed and I wanted a medium roast so I picked 22 as the program to run. I had very few clicks to do to get the beans roasted. It is very nice how you can drop the beans right into the tray as soon as the roast is done and from there into your bean cooler, which I did (you can also run cool mode but that will take 3 to 5 minutes it says). I got a nice even uniform medium roast. Cleanup really could not be easier as I just dumped the chaff collector, used the little brush to sweep it and then a small vac to take care of what was left. Easy peasy.I did the 3 batches in about an hour where with the Gene Cafe it would have been twice as long or more. The ONE caveat I will mention is I use a fume collector like you use for soldering stations that I point at the top of the exhaust on the unit. When I turned it off, smoke was coming through and it probably would have been decently smoky. I recommend either using the tubing to vent it outside, roast outside, or get something like the fume collector so your house isn't full of smoke. For $500 this is fantastic. Honestly better than I expected. Parts like new filters for the exhaust can be purchased fairly inexpensively on AliExpress. There are lots of youtube videos and reddits to check out for how to make the most of it.I recommend this roaster.

This is the only roaster I found that has all of the features a professional roaster would have, yet at a very affordable price:- Drum Roaster- Dropping beans mechanism- Cooling tray that can be removed for an easy beans transfer.- Manual control of the electrical heat source and fan- Smoke suppressor (that does a phenomenal job) as well as two pipes that also come with the roster in case you want to use those instead.I have experience great customer service so far. Make sure to get the model that has the quartz tube (comes already with the newly manufactured roasters), otherwise you will have some burned beans in the roast. It has automated modes for beginners. You can still choose to do your roast manually or in an assisted mode where you control when to stop the roast. The automated modes are a bit fast but still do a good job. The end result tends to be a bit darker than what you are aiming for, however, this can be controlled if you are roasting in a manual mode or assisted mode. Make sure to lead the roaster with at closer to 350g-400g to get best results. Loading it with 100g for sample roasting would make the roast very quick.Best roaster I found for its price. Recommended.
