Gzlozak Snake Tongs, 68" Professional Snake Grabber Tool for Rattlesnake Reptile Safe Handling Heavy Duty Snake Stick Wide Jaw with Lock Non-Slip Grip Handle Snake Long Reach Grabber. This arrived within 5 days of placing my order. It was well packaged in a box that was then packaged inside of a larger Amazon box. It is easy to put together however you may want to make certain that you go to the listing page and watch the video. And also read through a couple of descriptions on how to do so. Once together it functions exactly as it should. I am not using this for snakes. I am using this because I have a lovely outdoor cat who likes to leave me dead mice under my front porch steps. They are very difficult to retrieve and of course after a few days they do not have a nice aroma to them. Which I do not want people visiting my home to get a whiff of if they're coming to my front door. These grab on to the mice and hang on to them until so that I can easily get them out from underneath the porch and dispose of them properly. It's stout but of a weight that I have no problem with. It's got a good quality powder coat over the metal. It is heavy duty and they should last a long time and be durable for many years.

OK so lifesaver may be a little dramatic. But to the novice in the back yard who doesn't want to get bitten, or have his dogs get bitten, AND doesn't want to kill the snake (well, except those coral snakes), this is a fantastic tool. Seriously, could theoretically save me or my dogs' life, or maybe even the snake's.Assembly directions are not intuitive, I recommend watching the video to figure it out. Once assembled, it is relatively light weight, stays firm without twisting, has good hand grip as well as foam handle for your other hand, and has good length to keep you further from the snake (I got the longer one). The serrated jaws are actually rather smooth to keep from harming the snake - so long as you only apply moderate pressure. It will grip all the way to the smallest size, and you can maintain proper pressure with your hand's grip. It also has an easy to operate locking mechanism on the handle. As a bonus this will also work to pick up many other things. They show it ready to grab a mouse, which would probably not survive being picked up. However, my cat frequently will leave a dead rat or mouse near my back door, and I could use this to pick the carcass up. It would also work for fruit a little too high to reach in a tree, or various other items.Very handy tool, more than enough quality for occasional personal use, at a fantastic price. I definitely recommend this grabbing tool.

I've been handling snakes for about 30 years. For most of that time I've had tongs from a major supplier in the Midwest, but was never happy with them, primarily because the segments never stayed firmly together. So they mostly stayed on a shelf, and honestly I never really missed them. But I saw these, and it was a good price, so I figured let's check them out.On the plus side, these feel pretty solid. The segments screw tightly together which is an improvement from my previous tongs. They will not slide out or twist on you. And you can unscrew them for easy storage and transport. There is a jaw-locking mechanism in the handle, which I was not aware of. I suppose this could come in pretty handy if you need to keep a firm grip on the snake and not worry about it opening on you. The foam grip down the handle is in a good location. On the negative side, I bought the 65" ones which was a mistake for what I need. Unless you're a novice, you don't need that much separation unless perhaps if you're handling a huge snake like a king cobra. I'm just dealing with rattlers and copperheads, so this is too long. It becomes very unwieldy at that length, which is not something you want in snake tongs. And if you are a novice, this also makes it harder to control. You almost need two hands on the grip to manage. On the other hand, the length can be useful if you're trying to get a snake in a hard to reach spot like up in a tree, so just keep in mind your intended use. Also, I suppose the length will be a plus if you, like in one of the pictures, are feeding gators or picking fruit. The jaws are serrated which may seem like a good thing, but in fact is usually harmful to the snake unless you are very good at managing the grip strength. But again because of the length, that's harder to do with these. I plan on putting some rubber tubing on the jaws to help minimize potential harm. The quality isn't the best but I think they'll hold up from occasional use.Putting these together for the first time was a little tricky as the instructions aren't all that clear. The key is to put all the segments together except for the jaw section, which will remain loose and dangling. Then un-latch the locking mechanism, slide the segment on and screw it tight, and then pull the locking mechanism tight until you get the tautness you need, then latch it shut to lock it into place. They include an extra screw which was a nice touch. These are good tongs. I'm giving it four stars despite my concerns about the length, which is only an issue for me and may not be for you.

To be honest, I haven't used this for a snake yet. I've had a bunch wander into the house, but not since I got this. I expect there will be some when the weather warms up here in the desert. I have no doubt it will work perfectly. That said, I have used it for grabbing things out of reach, picking up garbage in the yard, chasing the dogs, and it has worked flawlessly-especially when chasing the dogs, LOL.The build is really well done. The materials are top-notch, heavy duty, and finished well. There are no sharp edges or flashing visible anywhere. The gripper closes completely and can be easily controlled to prevent hurting the animals one is grabbing. There is a little springiness in the handle too, so you can grip gently to firmly by squeezing tighter without letting the snake get away. So, this is not anything like one of those plastic grabbers that you can find all over Amazon. This is longer and not plastic. I expect this will last for the rest of my life.Highly recommended, even if you don't have snakes.
