My only concern with this is that it seems too easy to apply too much pressure or "grab" on the snake, causing harm. We have another, non-foldable snake catcher of approximately the same size, but it doesn't have such a strong grab. With this grabber the amount of pressure is directly related to how hard you squeeze the handgrip, so if you are nervous when trying to catch the snake you might hurt it. The rubberized coating is helpful, but still does not mitigate this issue. The "fixed lock" on this device is not particularly helpful as there are three "settings", but there is not much difference from one to the other setting.

In truth, as soon as I got this I stopped seeing snakes so it might be magic. It is sturdy and built with quality stainless steel. Got a little bit of weight but not as much as you’ld think, and it’s a good price.

We saw a few snakes in our yard this summer and wanted something to help move them out of the way.

The two sections slide together with a button to keep them from separating. Well, the button is missing from mine, but it still stays together because of the cable tension. That means the red sleeve cannot be secured over the joint. We live in Arizona, at 4200' of elevation, so we have rattlesnakes. This will allow us to relocate them rather than kill them. Yes, I know what I am doing. Except for the missing button, this is a quality item which functions well.

It arrived on time and in good condition, but it is not as sturdy as I would have expected. I don't know if it can handle large rattlers.

I ordered this snake grabber specifically because I love snakes, but my friend is terrified of them and her property is pretty much overrun with blue racers that I want to help her with. Blue racers aren't venemous, but they are rather 'bitey', and I was hoping this grabber would help reduce the chance of me getting bitten. After getting the grabber I've decided not to actually try it on a live snake, since I first tried it on my hand, and I was completely shocked by how much grip pressure it had, since it could very easily crush a snake. The 'soft touch design' is also not soft enough (in my opinion) and I fear that using this grabber will severaly injure a snake. I'm still going to keep it in my car, and it could be worth using in an extreme situation, but I would not recommend using this grabber if you are actually concerned with the well-being of the snake being relocated. I would also recommend that anyone who is looking to relocate a venemous snake (such as a rattlesnake) call an experience professional rather than trying to deal with a venemous snake on their own, with or without this tool. A person is most likely to be bitten when trying to kill or move a venemous snake, and it is better left to those who have received the proper training.
