What is a marker buoy?
- To put it super simply, a surface marker buoy shows that a diver is down and alerts the surface to exactly where you are in the water. They are any kind of inflatable device which will float at the surface of the water and can be seen either from the shore or the boat (depending on where you’re diving from). They can be extremely useful in locations with heavy boat traffic, both coastal and inland in lakes.
Why should you carry a safety sausage/SMB?
- Surface marker buoy (SMB) are simple but effective diving equipment used by both amateur and experienced divers. Also known as diving marker buoys, these safety flotation devices make scuba diving safer as they let people on the surface see the general location of divers from a far.
- Since SMB is safety equipment, they are often neon-colored to make them easier to spot. These floatation devices are often connected to a diver by a reel to ensure that the diver is directly below the SMB.

Surface Marking Tube
Known as "Delayed Surface Marker Buoy(DSMB)", "Decompression buoy", "Deco buoy", "Surface Marking Tube" , it is a diving safety equipment that you must choose.

Marine Whistle
Whistle blows wet or dry, small size stows away easily, with lanyard, quick access clip, easily attaches to , kayak, or vessel. Attached Whistle to the SMB for surface emergencies / boat signalling.
Step 1
- Open the prepared surface marker buoy for diving
Step 2
- Tie the finger reel on the bottom D-ring of the surface marker buoy, then use the snap hook to fix string on the finger reel
Step 3
- Oral Inflate or via a regulator
Step 4
- Release the surface marker buoy and hold the finger reel, Finish!

Came as described. Nice addition to your kit and just as good as the more expensive ones by other companies. Like anything you use in saltwater keeping it clean is crucial to it lasting. Has been on my gear all summer and seems to be holding up well.

Dsmb and clip seem ok but the loop on the line is too small to fit the reel through meaning I had to cut it off and make a loop myself. Not the end of the world but a little frustrating.

A must item you should have as a diver. The only thing I dislike is that it was Hard to me to attach the reel to the buoy is to thight and I had to cut the row.

Just received it, good size, double ender, spool and wistle are great extras. Line is thin, but it is expected in a small spool

Complete unit to make open water Scuba dive safer should you need to surface independent of others. I like that it is contained and comes complete with whistle and clip. Good notifications for delivery.

Bought this product back in April, didn’t get the opportunity to try it until now. The safety sausage seems good quality. Has both choices of inflating it orally or via regulator which we like. Nice flashy colors with reflective strip. No complaints.The spool and cord however are useless. The cord had a pre made loop however it does not fit over spool to attach so you can not use it.The cord also seems low quality probably would brake after a few dives. The spool is plastic, also am worried it may break after a few uses. The biggest concern is the size of the spool. When it’s attached to a double ended bolt snap, the size of the spool presses the bolt snap trigger to release the bolt snap unintentionally. We’ve tried different sizes of bolt snaps and we still run into this issue. Meaning the spool could unravel or you could lose the whole smb under water. Will have to replace for sure the spool and cord.Wish I would have tested this out prior to return date because I would have for sure returned this item.
