I used 1/4 " thick foam as a cheekpiece on my rifle stock, which required bending around a 1 1/2" diameter surface. The adhesive takes some time to achieve its maximum holding strength, and the closed-cell foam is elastic enough to flatten out again after bending. To overcome these tendencies, I tightly wrapped the foam to the stock with self-adhesive grip tape for two days and applied heat to the bend (hair dryer, about 140 degrees F) to get the foam to relax more quickly to its final shape. This has worked well so far with no need for additional adhesive to keep everything in place.

Good padding - definitely good for crafts. Fairly sticky backing. Not worried about it coming off.

Used this to make a gasket for a flood barrier for a drier vent. It worked perfectly and deformed nicely to about half its initial thickness when the lid was screwed down. Just exactly what I had in mind. The back adhesive allowed a bit of repositioning before you press it down for good then feels permanent. Just right.
