In an attempt to install a handicap bar in our shower I discovered just how hard real ceramic tiles are. I started with a standard 1/8" carbide tip bit. It would not even scratch the surface. Next I used a very small Dremel ball bit to make a starter hole. I was able to make a small indentation but in the process wore out the Dremel ball bit. I again tried the carbide bit but it was a waste of time. I accomplished nothing.I searched Amazon and found these bits. They were a bit spendy but the ratings were very good and most of the top ratings appeared to be by people who knew what they were doing. These bits are amazing. The box comes with two 2 ea. for the 6mm size. I started drilling using a water sprayer to clear the tailings every 30 sec. I also spun the bit in a water container every 30 sec. to cool it. I was shocked at how hard I had to push but after about 6 min of drilling, stopping, cooling and drilling I finished the first hole. I continued to drill and completed 3 holes without any damage to the ceramic tile. The only problem was the drill got so hot I had to let it cool for several hours. I was concerned that the bit might be getting dull but used the same bit for the next hole, and the next hole and finally the last hole. Two sets of three holes each and no damage or cracking to the tiles. If you observe the attached picture the top bit has never been used and the bottom bit drilled six holes through the hardest ceramic tile I have ever come across. It took no longer to drill the last hole than the first. I see no significant wear on the bottom bit other than the coating being worn off. Whiteout reservation I wholeheartedly recommend these bits.

I have several pots with no drainage holes and my drill bits did not work. I ordered these bits just to see if they would make a difference and was shocked at how fast and easy they created drainage holes! Did the first 3 in minutes with nice clean holes - no cracks whatsoever! Now I know I can make properly draining pots when I see nice ones that have no holes!

I had to drill several screw holds in my wall tile. These bits cut through with no problem. I used one bit to make 6 holes. And the bit seems to be just fine. I would guess I could make several more holes with the same bit.

Was able to drill into 10mm porcelain tile easily without cracking the tile to attach a hook for a shower hose extension in my shower stall. The black coating on the the bit did come off during this, not sure if that will affect durability of the bits. Note: there are 6 bits in the pack, but only 4 sizes; there are 2 of each of the 2 smallest bits.
