This is a longer than typical tapered reamer. Note that it's actually ~6 1/2" long. It's made from M2 6542 steel, and I had to look that up and found that it "Can maintain its hardness at high temperatures, suitable for general high speed cutting. 6542 High Speed Tool Steel: Due to the addition of cobalt, it can also maintain its hardness at higher temperatures, suitable for higher temperature cutting applications." It's finished quite nicely, and came in a plastic slide together case. The product page looks like the reamer is a computer generated image because the steel looks almost chrome-like, but on mine, the steel is more of a brushed and stain finish. I just thought I'd note that, it really doesn't matter. It's performance is really good, and don't see any wear or nicks after use so far. I'm quite happy with this.

I’ve been using this to help hollow out a huge stump to use as a planter. It does a great job. All it needs is a decent sized hole to get it started. The bit is heavy duty and pretty sharp. I don’t know how it will do on metal, but it eats wood up super fast.

This 7 Degree Ball Joint Tapered Reamer by DKIBBITH is very heavy duty!I couldn't tell at the time of ordering but this gem is of industrial grade and is very substantial which works for me for I already on a hand held reamer. This heavy duty high quality reamer worked very well paired with my drill press to create bolt access holes in square steel tube rods. It was easy to use and performed very well. I saw little to no wear which speaks to it's durable and overall life span. I'm very pleased with this product and would recommend.

7 Degree Ball Joint Tapered ReamerThis is a big giant taper, much larger than the only other one that I have from (HF), that is a good thing because I can use it to ream out larger holes. It is well made, though not perfect, but it will get the job done. I think it is a good value for the amount charged.

This tapered reamer is very heavy duty and designed for professionals. It's not a cheap tool by any means and is perfect for creating 7° tapered holes. I've only used it twice so far and it seems very reliable. I really couldn't ask any more from it.
