My husband was trying to change the belt on his 2024 Can-Am Commander and DIDN'T have this tool to start with. He is an old school mechanic and said it shouldn't be any different than doing a belt on a snowmobile. After some googling I found that there was actually a tool for this - sucks you have to have one, but once he had it he did the belt in 2 minutes. Very handy to have on hand!

This works great for changing belts on Can-Am X3 and defenders. But does not work for OG Maverick 1000 you just need the bolt kit for that

Star bit is too large for bolts on clutch assembly cover, needs to be one size smaller. General design works well to open sheave on driven clutch, to remove / install belt. Make certain to place a penny between soft aluminum clutch and star bit, or you will damage sheave.

Make sure you out a penny or other coin in the clutch face when using it, they should have included that in the kit, but otherwise it works great!

Works great for our 2018 Can Am Maverick Trail 1000 DPS. Cannot say for others but did the job for us!Seems like a good quality item.
