Good quality for the price. It looks like it’s going to give a better germination rate than others I have used since there seems to be a better deeper divet in the center to hold the seeds.

I read a lot of reviews on this and similar products and choose this because they sounded like they would fit and had good reviews. They do fit fine, but this is the only thing I have changed and now my seeds aren't germinating. I've used the same seeds as in the past, and so it has to be these. Also, when I checked on the seeds, it seems like they just molded in these plugs. It's a bummer since they did fit well, but useless if the seeds won't germinate in them.

One big thing to keep in mind is that you are only getting 80 sponges, no seeds, no netcup/basket, so don't get confuse by the pictures of this item. The sponges are very good, it's a typical size will work like the original included from aerogarden machine. For me, I use this on my DIY hydroponic setup with styrofoam board sitting on top of my golf fish tank, it's working well. I've been growing herbs like cilantro and mints, just make sure you have the right amount of light, air, temperature and good circulation water, it will on kratky method as well I'm sure.I don't think there are any good amount of nutrients in the sponges, so it's ok to start seedlings, but you need to add nutrients once the seeds sprouted and it will use a lot of water and nutrients once it's fully rooted, so keep an eye on it especially if you're doing the kratky method.

I ordered these because I was running low on my sponges that came with my Aerogarden. I was a bit skeptical at first sight because they looked shorter and felt a bit more tough than my Aerogarden sponges, but performance wise, I could not term the difference at all. My lettuce grew at the same rate and quality using these sponges as it did with the Aerogarden brand sponges.

I am a huge fan of hydroponic growing, however, I also find these grow sponges to be effective for rooting cuttings as well, so I try to keep a good stock of grow sponges on hand. These sponges are very good quality, they rehydrated quickly and did not break down like some cheap products.There is a little hole for seeds, I like to make the hole a bit deeper for cuttings.
