But what truly sets it apart is the wide, unadorned space in the middle. This is surrounded by a lovely scalloped border with tiny spring buds, ready to bloom. With its subtle elegance, this tile adds a touch of freshness to any room.

I wasn't sure about using something like this, since I generally prefer "real" materials or full solutions, not cosmetic ones. But, I was wrong about this one! We bought a house that had existing water damage in the living room ceiling. Full, hand-applied plaster ceilings. Of which we were not prepared to fix — nor could we afford to. See the before, during and after pics for the full scoop on what a difference these made.Benefits:- They look true to the room and the time period (to some extent - 1920s). So many people, even those who were in the house before we bought it, assumed they were original.- They don't eat up any head space, and call attention to the tall ceilings.- They are super lightweight, so there is no additional pressure or drag on the ceiling.- So many aesthetic options - I chose the one I did for simplicity and because there is a not a plumb/straight wall in this joint, so some of the more square patterns would have emphasized that.- More affordable than other options.- Easy enough to do as one or two people (two or more is best - one to glue and hand, the other to be on the ladder/scaffolding and to affix).- Paintable and easy to do so. I need to do some touch ups, but it took the SW flat finish paint very well (Greek Villa is the white, Light French Gray is the moulding).- Easily affixed to textured ceiling with minimal prep. I removed all the water damaged bits off before gluing up, but the rest of the ceiling was popcorn-ish texture. What I Wish I Had Known:- Getting the first few tiles in took WAAAAAYYYY longer and more effort than I thought it would. Again, nothing is plumb in our house, so that was part of it, and we were working around a hand-made medallion in the center of the room, which was also not even. I used a laser level and then a plumb line, and then even made a template, but abandoned all that because those were straight, but nothing else was. I ended up having two additional people eyeball as I placed the first few so they looked more even and centered in the context of the room. For whoever needs to hear it, hear it: yes, centered and lined up are good, but don't hold on so tight to a rule that it makes it worse or throws off the balance. It looked ridiculously crooked when it was actually straight and now it looks straight, when it's actually kind of crooked.- Use the adhesive they suggest. I ran out at some point, and tried what I had on hand (liquid nails, some gorilla glue caulk, etc.) and then what I could get at the local hardware since I didn't want to wait for another shipment to finish. Nope! Even the one rated for styrofoam did not work. Like, not at all. And get more than you think you will need. You can always return what you don't use.- Caulking between the tiles is super cumbersome (unless you have a scaffolding, but it's still a bish). Yet, it's worth it. In the pics, I show what it looks like caulked vs. uncaulked. It just gives it more polish.- Cut your edge pieces carefully and with a super sharp knife. I thought I could "make up for it in post" to correct some of the wonky edge cuts with caulking. But no. Have extra blades on hand.- I wish I would have painted the ceiling the color I was going to paint the tiles, so if there are gaps, it just looks like tile instead of a glaring different color or a gap that I now have to fill in with caulk and/or hand paint because the roller doesn't dip into the crevices.Hope that helps anyone on the fence or embarking on this project!

Updated 04/19/24 tiles have held up well with no change in color or form. I am still in love with my ceiling. Installed in 2022.Update 06/26/2023 I still love my ceiling and am buying more to do my bedroom, sunroom, hallway and kitchen. I followed the instructions, used the right glue, and used a good paint on it. It's been almost a year and still is beautiful to look at and I am very, very picky. Make sure you read my other notes below and you'll be happy. Also, I liked another style from another brand/company and unfortunately bought it to do the living room. It is nowhere near the quality I see with the LA Maison tiles. It has bubbles and ripples and dented everywhere I touched it. I wish I had a 'do over" on that room. After I finish the other rooms I may tear it off and redo with LA Maison tiles. This product is amazing and exactly the style I wanted. I added a before picture to show what I covered up. A horrible peach plaster ceiling with holes everywhere. It was so super light and easy to cut (with a sharp blade) and apply. I put this up all by myself. There were slight differences in the tiles so I used painters caulk to fill any gaps and then painted it with a semi gloss white to keep the shine and make it easier to clean. They are styrofoam like everyone else said but you can't tell once it's up and I painted to extend its life. It's been up for over a week and none of it has come loose. I used the recommended 310 adhesive and got about 11 tiles per tube. I ran out so I bought pl300 foamboard adhesive and it worked just as well but for some reason it is blue in color so I had to be very careful to wipe it with a wet cloth before it dried. Overall I am ecstatic about the results of this product.

Ceiling tiles were easy to install and look great. Just take your time. Although you do not have to paint them, the installed tiles give off a 'checkboard' effect because of the way different tiles reflect the light. (You can see this effect in the pic I posted of the unpainted tiles) Painting with flat ceiling paint eliminates this and they look great and visually 'even'. The only issue I have with the tiles themselves is that they are not exactly square. They measure 19 -1/2 x 19x5/16. You must pay attention to this and install in the same direction otherwise your edges do not come out straight and the corners where the tiles meet are offset. PLEASE NOTE: Product comes in shrink wrapped packs of eight. Despite this, you can only return an entire order, not a partial order. Measure carefully!!!

I had my doubts about these but did it anyhow. I'm so glad I did! Instead of doing just my kitchen, I've decided to do the dining room also and down the hall. These are so gorgeous. Since I can't ever do anything the easy way, lol I didn't want these just white. I painted them the color I wanted them with standard Behr wall paint. I then dry brushed the raised parts so each tile looks old/antiqued. I do live in Arizona and we have super high winds so I wanted to be able to dust the corners so I gave each one a light coat of poly. I had over 200 of these things so it took me forever but it was totally worth it. I have a demanding job so I just did a little each night for a week or so. Time well spent. They are beautiful. They were packaged perfectly and delivered quickly. They took paint perfectly and were super easy to install. Very easy to cut around lights and corners. Just a regular utility/craft knife/blade. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

These are not shaped to fit together without cracks and gaps. The corners have gaps and some of the sides have some little protrusions left from the forming process. They need to be die cut after thermaforming so they truely are all the same and square and perfectly sized to fit together without cracks and spaces. They may be ok for small projects if it is not critical that the corners are perfectly joined and if you like the look of caulked joints.

I waited a long time for these pieces of styrofoam. Unfortunately, they arrived thin and with crunched corners. It's hard to pretend they're real when they're so fragile and cheaply made. The only good part about this order was that they accepted a return.
