I had a problem with ice forming at the bottom of the roof and rain gutters. This solved the issue. Great product!

I'm using this wrapped around an outdoor hose so I can keep it out and not worry about the few nights that it dips below freezing down here (we don't have freeze proof hose bibs around here) and it's worked to keep things from freezing. Doesn't get too hot, I can comfortably touch it the whole time. Seems durable and decently made to be waterproof, although the main heating cable is a mass manufactured line that they then splice the power cable and cap off, so I wouldn't expect any issues with the cable unless they really cheap out. The cap is just silicone caulked onto the end and the power cable heat shrinked, so it isn't that hard for them to finish building these.Careful with the power draw when selecting the length, my 50ft cable spikes to 1kW (20W/ft) when first plugged in and it's cold which is almost the max for the circuit. Seems the resistance relies heavily on the temp of the cable. Settles down to 300W (6W/ft) with it being just below freezing outside. The rating seems all over the place, with the cable itself saying 8W/ft and the product listing having both 5W/ft and 7W/ft in different spots. I think the real answer is that it varies, but will be reasonable unless you're sticking this on a giant heat sink in a cold environment.Pro-tip: plug it in for a bit before trying to lay it out. Heating the cable will make it much more flexible and easier to work with.

Residing in a rural area of the Pacific Northwest, we experience freezing temperatures annually. Over the past several years at my current residence, which utilizes an on-site well, I have frequently encountered pipes freezing and bursting each winter. Both exterior pipes and those in my uninsulated mud room have been affected, necessitating midnight repairs to restore water flow. These heating wires have proven to be invaluable. After purchasing several 50-foot sets, this winter was the first in five years without any frozen pipes. I highly recommend these heat lines for anyone facing similar challenges with pipe freezing during the winter season.

We've been using this in our basement to help keep the water pipes from freezing during recent cold weather. Our area typically gets to low 20s Fahrenheit, but this year its been dipping down to 0 degrees a few times. This has helped keep our otherwise uninsulated copper pipes nice and warms so no freezing. I wouldn't use it on Pex or PVC pipe as I would worry about is possibly causing damage and am not sure how heat resistant 1/4 inch PVC pipe is.It also has a nice side benefit not mentioned: if your water heater goes out but you have power, you can heat a small section of pipe near your faucet and have a low trickle of luke warm water. While that may not sound like much, if you have a camper or hunting property that doesn't have hot water, a bit of warmer water than just tap cold can be a nice creature comfort. The only thing I would like added on would be carrying case of some such to coil it onto for storage, and also a way to regulate the temperature it heats to for more control.

A little hard to work with as it's a bit stiff but it does work and does it job nicely. It's pretty tough as I pulled it thru just a rough drilled hole in plywood and it didn't damage it at all.Keep in mind where the thermostat is cause it will not come on if the thermostat is above 50f

I was thoroughly impressed with the instruction booklet that came with this heating cable. I was honestly expecting a one-page, couple sentence, piece of paper that wasnt helpful. That is however the exact opposite to what is provided. It is a multiple page book that provides you with anything you could need to know about the product and specifically how to install. Very very impressed. The product itself seems to be built very well and has been functioning in my gutter for the last month. By the time I received this, it was too late for me to install it properly in a zigzag pattern and with my gutter being a solid block of ice I figured I would start there and it's been melting the ice nicely. I installed it so part of the heating cable would be at eye level so I could walk by and feel it to make sure it was still eating and it has not disappointed yet. Even in single digit weather, It's warm to the touch.
