Surprisingly durable sanding media. I am using this exclusively in a wet sanding application. The abrasive surface has remained intact with some wear- through only after some pretty extensive use. I would consider this a pretty solid value for the money. As a reference - I am using this to sand polyester resin embedments, which have a similar hardness to modern automotive paints. After this sanding application, I am switching to a rubbing compound and foam buffing pads for a mirror like finish. It has the usual high quality Mirka durability. It's worth the money to spend a little extra on a quality product like this from Mirka. The backing is about 1/8th inch soft, foam. Very flexible. The whole package stays together completely. I have had no problems with the backing or sanding surface falling apart after repeated uses over several weeks. It does wear out, but at a predictable and uniform pace.
