I still drive a 2001 Nissan Frontier. Years ago my AC would stop cooling suddenly. After parking for an hour it resumed cooling and worked great for days, until it stopped again. A Nissan dealer charged me over $400 to replace this part. Instead of an expansion valve, this temperature sensor tells the system when to cycle the compressor. The dealership made it sound like they had to pull the dash to access an inexpensive part. They lied. A little searching online and I found sites with explicit instructions, as well as photos and videos. Pull the glove box out with six screws. Remove several more screws to crack open the evaporator case and you will see this inserted into the evaporator fins.A screwdriver and a long pair of needle nosed pliers were the only tools needed. A half hour job and the AC is great again.
