HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTALLITION. REMOVAL OF THE DISTRIBUTOR WAS NECESSARY IN THIS CASE ONLY BECAUSE MY DISTRIBUTOR HAS THE TACH DRIVE. I THINK THAT A DISTRIBUTOR WITHOUT A TACH DRIVE WILL NOT HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR INSTALLITION. THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE A PERSONAL CALL. NO MORE POINTS . WISHED I HAD DONE THIS 20 YEARS AGO. I DID CHANGE THE COIL WITH THE RECOMMENDED ACCELL COIL. AFTER CHANGING THE SYSTEM , OTHER THAN THE EXTRA WIRES, IT LOOKED CLOSER TO ORIGINAL THAN OTHER AFTERMARKET IGNITION SYSTEMS. PEFORMS MUCH BETTER.

I installed this kit in a 1973 small block Corvette. Note that as of this writing the picture shown on Amazon is not for the 2010 kit. The kit would be very difficult, if not impossible, to install without removing the distributor from the car. At first I did not disassemble the distributor and was able to place the module. I then noticed that the wires from the module could chafe on the vacuum advance bracket (sharp, stamped edge) so I disassembled the distributor (removed shaft and breaker plate) and wrapped the vacuum advance bracket with electrician's tape and put some plastic tubing over the module wires to protect where they go past the breaker plate and the vacuum advance. I still am a bit concerned about the module wires as the 3 wire bundle is more rigid than the original single points wire, and as you know the breaker plate has to move for vacuum advance. The directions are incomplete and you will have to figure some things on your own. The screws for the breaker wheel seat oddly and one of them hit the module, requiring a bit of grinding of the screw for clearance. I understand that Accel has been sold to MSD and there is uncertainty about the future availability of this kit and their other products. Once put together the car started right up (thank God!)

This really made a huge difference. After I set my timing the throttle response is faster. And it starts up way faster. And idles smother

Awesome upgrade to your points type ignition system. Just remember to disconnect it before charging your battery or it will fry the module.

I previously had this rated as a 4, but had only driven the vehicle once or twice at the time of that review. I still don't know exactly what was going on, but the motor would just randomly shut off like you turned the key off and not restart. I suspect the unit that replaces the actual points had a faulty internal connection. It stranded me twice, the second time requiring a tow truck to get the car back to my shop. Reinstalled the original points and my car is 100% again.
