Have older persons at home and was afraid they would drop the glass cake cover. This works really well and is lite enough for them to handle.

I don't really know what to write here. It works. The instructions are pretty clear: Pick up cake cover, then put the cover over what you want to cover. You can see through it & it covers things & has a handle.I don't like plastic, but this is very light & it's not gonna shatter into a million pieces if I drop it. Nothing special or not special about it. It does what I need it to so I'm happy.

Clear.I already have a glass dome lid, but with little ones around decided a plastic one would be much safer. This dome lid by Homesphere is made of lightweight acrylic. This 11-inch clear lid is perfect for those who have independent kids in the kitchen. This dome is light enough for kids to handle safely. It will be great as a cake dome, and even better yet, it doubles as a cover for foods while awaiting guests' arrival, or to cover snacks for the family.Just note that since this dome lid is made of acrylic, it is NOT dishwasher or microwave safe.Acrylic is a transparent thermoplastic homopolymer known more commonly by the trade name “plexiglass.†It is generally considered one of the clearest plastics on the market and is very scratch resistant. Another advantage of acrylic is that it does not contain or release Bisphenol A (BPA) during hydrolysis (degradation due to material contact with water), so it's a food safe plastic to use. On the downside acrylic is quite brittle and not very impact resistant when compared to other plastics. It also experiences brittle failure, and industry term used to describe how a material behaves under pressure. With brittle failure, the plastic has little flexibility and will crack after minimal bending. When crushed, it often breaks apart in shards (like glass). In addition to the poor impact resistance and the brittle failure, acrylic also has poor heat resistance. With a boiling point of 130°C (266°F), it will not fare well with hot liquids, or for use in the microwave, or even exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Lastly, acrylic does not defend well against attacks from organic solvents, and while it is non-toxic and food safe (approved by the FDA), it's something you may need to consider depending on your intended use.The only other notable I have is that this dome lid isn't exactly 11-inches as advertised. It comes just shy at 10¾ inches interior diameter by my manual measurements (see pics.). The dome lid also comes in a retail box so it is giftable.Overall, this was exactly what I was looking for.

It's good. Lol. Especially for everyday! You need to have to have your food items on a plate or platter large enough (and flat enough) for this to sit flat to keep the air out. I's good for what it is, a lightweight, acrylic dome to put over cakes, pastries and such. I'll say this though, it's not that deep for cakes... so it only fits over short cakes (as in most standard homemade cakes. It won't fit most fancy stacked, layered cakes as it's not tall enough (it's only like 4-inches tall. Not to mention only maybe a 10-inch (ish) diameter cake will fit due to the curve of the dome if it's getting close to that 4-inches tall.It's great for cut brownies, donuts, cookies and other pastries and bars (or pre-cut cake) though! I, personally, love that it's Acrylic as it's very light and not easy to break... I tend to be a bit of a klutz sometimes, lol. Nice dome for everyday!

I ordered this thinking that I was going to get an acrylic lid, but it appears to be a thick plastic because the clarity isn’t as sharp as it would be with quality acrylic, plus it just feels off like a plastic lid. I will be using this but am a little disappointed. However, it’s a nicer food cover compared to foil or plastic wrap and much easier to use.
