I was looking for one more inexpensive gift for my father for his birthday, and I decided to try an indoor/outdoor wireless thermometer and humidity sensor, much like the one I'd gotten for my mother for her house except that the one I got her was temperature only. It get's VERY humid here living right on the ocean where my Dad does, so I wanted the humidity sensor for him. I also wanted a screen with large easy to read numbers, so I decided on this model. Right out of the package, he was able to set it up with great ease (which is saying a LOT, because my father is usually very inept at doing anything even remotely technical or requiring hanging or mounting things with screws or nails) and turn it on and have it function perfectly!Batteries were easy to install, didn't require unscrewing anything, just a slide tab to reveal the battery compartment, the remote sensor easily hung from a screw he placed into the side of a beam on his wooden deck, right under the top hand rail, which keeps it out of direct sunlight and eyesight as it's pretty small and easy to hide, and the receiver free stands quite sturdily on it's own on the corner table next to the phone. So far it seems quite accurate as we watched the temperature and humidity change dramatically as a thunderstorm rolled in just after we set it up, and change again as it quickly passed by and the sun came back out. In retrospect, I kind of wish I had purchased a model that also showed the barometric pressure, but that's no fault or flaw of this unit. So, it was an inexpensive model that is very easy to install and setup (basically just a screw and some batteries, that's it), has a nice large display for those who can't see as well as they used to, and is an attractive unit that blends in with it's surroundings like cordless phone stands and clocks and remote controls and the likes, things you might find on an end table in your living room where you're likely to place it. A great deal for the low price that it is, I'd highly recommend it!

I purchased the AcuRite wireless 00611A3 to measure the temps and humidity of our attic here in Louisiana. We have a Ranch style home 2,000+ and a low pitched roof. The unit was up in 2 places for months while we monitored summer heat and humidity. It worked perfect, measuring over 160 (f) and reporting attic humidity. We moved the outdoor sensor behind a column to block the setting sun and under our eves not touching any part of the house 8" (inches) from any material and not in direct wind, rain or sun. With one new Li battery it has been going strong for over a year. We have used 4 other types of outdoor temp / humidity sensors to date and this one by far is the best.I haven't checked the max range of the wireless but separated by two brick walls, wood wall and a really large fireplace we have it at 35' (ft) working fine. While in the attic we had at the longest 65' (ft). The signal indicator shows great signal. I'm sure it will work great at longer ranges but couldn't tell you right now.Update: 3-22-2017 : The Remote fails to connect 100% of the time. From the looks of the battery compartment and knowing our humidity runs high here in Louisiana it's no wonder the contacts became corrupted. I have to say this unit has really done a great job and lasted longer than others we have owned in the same price range. We have the indoor united mounted on the wall and use it know for internal temps.Well we be ordering another? Yes, what we paid was less than others that lasted only one summer. Still a 5 star product in my book. Just wish I had sealed everything but the sensor before placing it outside. I'll show how to seal it when we have our new one.

I bought this because it had both in/out humidity and temp. Also because it does not require AAA batteries (not as much bang for the buck as AAs and I'm always running out of AAAs).I've had it for a couple weeks, and it seems to work well. It seems in sync with other thermometers and humidity sensors I have.GOOD: Accurate as these things go (humidity is tough. See below). Easy to read. Easy to install batteries (all the other outdoor sensors I have purchases require a tiny eyeglass type screwdriver and AAA batteries and are a pain. This one is as simple as could be). Very easy to set up too.BAD: Nothing really so far. I am concerned that the outdoor sensor is not as waterproof as some. No rubber gasket seals or anything. Just a slip on plastic cover over the batteries. I put the outdoor sensor in a spot I know will be fairly dry. If you put it in direct sun and rain, I wouldn't expect a long life.NOTES: Unlike most of this type of thing, there is NO Clock and NO light. I don't need either, but if you do, this one ain't for you.HUMIDITY SENSORS ARE FICKLE: Humidity is not an easy thing to measure accurately with a cheap sensor or even an expensive one. Some negative reviews here particularly note that measurements seem to get less accurate with time or stuck at some level. That's life in the humidity sensor lane (relative humidity - to be accurate). These things require air flow. They are exposed to pollutants, which eventually contaminate them and to condensation, which will throw off their readings till it evaporates. Also, over time, the accuracy will drift because they really need to be calibrated every so often. 57% RH now may mean something different in a few weeks. Just do the mental gymnastics and adjust your self.So...enjoy your humidity sensor, but, as with your beloved Fido, realize it won't be with you forever.

This thermometer/barometer replaced a ten year old Accurite unit and it is more compact and easier to read.

Inside temp least count is 5 degree C. That is shows temp as 18 or 23 or 28 or 33 which is so frustrating. Not recommanded to any one.
