I bought this shepherd hook specifically to hang a bird feeder in my garden, and it's been an absolute game-changer! The hook itself is sturdy and well-made, easily supporting the weight of the feeder even when it's filled to the brim with seeds. What I love most is its ingenious anti-squirrel design — though unintentional! Those cheeky squirrels were determined to reach the bird food, but they met their match once I applied a bit of olive oil. Watching them comically slide back down has become my daily dose of entertainment!Installation was a breeze; it simply pushed into the ground without any fuss. The height is perfect too, keeping the feeder out of reach of most unwanted critters while still accessible for the birds.Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. It's functional, durable, and has added a touch of amusement to my daily garden routine. If you're looking for a reliable shepherd hook that does more than just hold your bird feeder, look no further. Highly recommended!Pros:Sturdy constructionEasy installationEffective at deterring squirrels (thanks to a bit of olive oil!)Perfect height for hanging bird feeders

This product fairly easy to assemble but it has to be assembled in a straight line or there'll be issues. Once assembled it's a strong post and appears to be able to hold some decent weight with 2 fair-sized bird feeders on it. The option of adjusting the height of either post is a bonus for variety. Easy enough to place in the ground but have noticed that a strong wind will loosen up the joints a little. Simple enough to just twist back in place but a few small screws would also help remedy that issue. Would recommend this product and the 2-pack provides options for various uses in the yard.

I love these! They are true to size and very sturdy. I’m very happy with these. And the price is great for the quality. Easy to put together also.

When I had two poles destroyed by a bear, I ordered these. I am very pleased. They were easy to assemble and reasonably sturdy. They are reasonably priced. I like the fact that I could make them higher with adding one more pole, but I chose the current height because it is easy for me to take the feeders in each night and put them out again in the morning.

We installed these as soon as we got them, and they have worked for our intended purposes: hanging lights and plants. We love how easily these transformed our backyard and helped us quickly change the look of the backyard. It is a good idea to get a few more boxes if you have plans to make a drastic impact with lights. We added an additional rod to make it even longer (see picture: we should tie this to the post next to it, but so far so good). The installation was a breeze, but do take your time aligning the tubes. I am unsure if WD-40 is a good idea as you need these to be tight. You would certainly need to clean this occasionally, as birds love to perch on it.It has been a bit over six weeks since I got this kit and installed it, and it has been solid so far. However, if it were to hit from the side, this would not hold up, say against a deer, so an expectation of a construction-grade steel rod is not realistic for this price point, IMHO. This will serve you well for the years to come, but it is not something of a permanent fixture. Again, for perspective, you are getting two tall stakes for the price that stick it in the ground. If you are looking for something that will last, check the ones that can be held down with cement.

These are awesome. I've ordered a 2nd set. Maybe a 3rd soon. I used the first set to hang wasp traps up high near the roof of my house since I am not comfortable climbing a ladder to get that high up. Very easy to put together and put up and they seem pretty stable.

Bought this to raise the bird feeders high enough for the deer to stay out of the bird feeders and eat their own food. It works for that purpose. Definitely better than the last one I bought. It is high enough and seems to be sturdy enough. A few simple changes would make this perfect. The threading needs to be placed just so to screw in evenly otherwise it doesn’t thread properly and ends up lopsided. The directions address this issue so I was prepared. I applied a little WD-40 to a cloth and wiped it around each male piece before connecting them. That made it much easier. Once connected, the Shepard’s hook was ready to insert into the ground. The 4 prongs made it more stable in the ground but the two pieces that.make the 4 prong base do not connect to each other so it took a bit of patience and repositioning to get it in. Would be better if one piece locked into the other piece. Once put together and put n the ground it seems secure and stable. At the first wind storm the weight of the filled bird feeder spun the top around and loosened all the pieces and the top was turned around. It tightened easy enough but some sort of a simple locking mechanism between each piece would eliminate the need for tightening it after winds and rain. I’ll bet a handy person can easily fix this issue by installing a tiny screw in each connecting piece. Tip - it is definitely helpful to have similar weight on both sides to keep it from tipping to one side. The birds seem to like the decorative hooks on top as they are often perching there. This works well for the intended purpose but with a few simple adjustments it can go from good to great.
