This is a durable reed that was recommend to a new student of Oboe. Student can make it work. Different than natural reeds but requires less turnover during the learning phase of the instrument

Just not worth it - might be useful for a very beginning student who does not know how to shape their own cane yet, but sound quality is just palin poor.

I bought the reed to try out a synthetic reed there’s no resistance at all causing it to be very flat and out of tone and the tone is terrible and very loud

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS SYNTHETIC REED TO TRY IT OUT. WELL, “IF IT SOUND LIKE A DUCK AND QUACKS LIKE. DUCK, THEN IT MUST BE A DUCK.†THIS SYNTHETIC REED SOUNDS LIKE A DUCK WHEN PLAYED ON MY OBOE.DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. BY THE JONES OR AARON LAKOTA REEDS.

We got a medium soft. But plays more like a soft reed. It didn’t “crow†well out of the box. But improved after playing on it a bit. Super bright tone.We don’t expect it to perform like our normal oboe reeds ordered from an oboist. As an “all my reeds broke or worn out†backup, it plays. And for us, we wanted to slow down our orders for new reeds until the pandemic resolves. A plastic reed is practical. Especially for elementary school band practice.I’ve tried another brand in a similar price range. It wasn’t very good. This one is an improvement. And I’d buy it again as it’s a good bang for the buck. Maybe a harder reed knowing it’s softer than labeled.
