I was concerned about the safety and reliability of these loppers. After all, the extending feature that causes an increase in length sounded so “gimmickyâ€. I questioned the reliability of whatever locking mechanism secured it into a short length or a long length position. After this arrived and I was able to see it in person, hold it, and use it, my concerns faded.Thinking about that day brings me to a chuckle as I recall my attempt to become a “quick-switch lopperâ€. I suppose I was so comfortable with this idea because I could see these DID function safely. After I spent about 20 minutes converting from long handle to short handle, back to long handle and so forth, I could see this tool was indeed locking effectively into both long and short handle modes. My comfort level also increased when I realized this tool was not disengaging on its own no matter how much I jerked it. It only did so upon my prompt. So I practiced and practiced my “quick-switchâ€. Taking my hands off of each handle was unnecessary to change lengths! All I needed to do was turn my handles either inward or outward to engage or disengage the locking mechanism. When I disengaged, I abruptly moved it forward in a short jerking motion, and BOOM, those handles were suddenly long. I then engaged the lock. And as quickly as I could, I disengaged the lock and jerked toward myself causing the handles to shorten and then I locked them. I repeated this for the 20 or so minutes because it was so much fun.Of course, during all times I practiced due diligence regarding safety issues and I encourage all others to do so as well - these loppers are SHARP and we should apply caution whenever we handle them. That said, this is an example of trying something new and liking it.I like these Loppers!

I like the idea of having a trimmer that is long enough to provide enough leverage for thicker branches while being short enough to get the branches up close, and this one perfect takes care of that by having extendable handles. I was a bit wary of how they extend at first. You have to twist the handles one way to loosen them, then twist them the opposite way to tighten. I worried that it wouldn’t work well, but it does work mostly well. It’s very simple to do, and you can do it while using the trimmer, so you don’t have to stop what you’re doing to change the length. It could potentially come loose while using it, but that’s not really too much of a concern. With just a tiny bit of use, you’ll be used to them, and they’ll work as well as you want them to.

I needed a new lopper to trim branches from small trees and bushes. This one is very sharp and can handle thicker limbs. I was expecting it to be less stable because of the extendable handles, but was very pleasantly surprised that they are sturdy and strong. The great feature that I really hadn't thought of - and I'm sure why it is designed the way it is - is that there are times that longer handles are in the way when you're trying to reach an inner limb to trim. Gardeners know what I'm talking about. The longer and shorter handles make this a very convenient tool. Very easy to use and works perfectly. Highly recommend.

I was weary at first of the extendable handles, these always seemed to be more of a gimmick to me until I tried out this pair of loppers. The aluminum handles are easy to work with, lock in place easily and hold up nicely to yard work. For medium duty use, they're perfect. Light weight, smooth operating and even come with notches built in to the non-blade side to help grip branches and avoid slide out. If you have limited garage space and are looking for a well made pair of loppers in a small package these are a great option.

This was a lot shorter than I had anticipated, but as it turns out, that is an advantage in tight areas. Just an easy inward twist and you can extend out eight inches for a more common size with additional leverage. The handles are metal and are strong enough to let you apply a lot of pressure if necessary. Cutter is very sharp and “Lops†small branches quite easily, great for brush and small branches. Since it’s so easy to adjust, you may accidently twist the handle(s) & loosen during use, so just be aware of the possibility so that doesn’t happen to you. Nicely priced at $20.99 so it is definitely a good value.

The AIRAJ Extendable Pruning Shear is a great garden and yard tool. It’s a heavy-duty pruner that works as either a short or long handle branch cutting tool. The pruner is made well with high quality materials. It’s very simple to operate and aside from periodic sharpening of the blades, requires practically no maintenance. With the short twist of the telescoping handles, you can easily adjust the length of the handles from 16†to 24.†In short, I like this product, because its quick adjusting feature of the handle is like having 2-tools-in-1.
