I am really surprised how versatile this tool turned out to be. I tried it on many shrubs and bushes and no longer have to carry two tools with me.I liked that it has the latch to secure it when unused, heavyweight and really sharp. The handles are long enough to reach further. very happy with the purchase.

These steel bladed bypass loppers and hedge shears are super sharp. I tried out the loppers on some center branches on one of the large lilac bushes that grow along our backyard fence and the loppers cut through the 1-inch and 1.5-inch-thick limbs as though they were slicing through Jello.I know it is the wrong time of year to be trimming lilacs but the center of this particular bush definitely needed opening up for better circulation and it really didn’t do any harm except to eliminate a few blossoms from next spring’s blossom bash. These bushes are always over laden with flowers anyway. Besides, I couldn’t find anything else that would benefit from pruning at this time of year so the lilacs became my victim.I didn’t attempt to do any hedge trimming, mainly because I don’t have any hedges to trim and decided it would be best not to experiment trying to form a hedge out of the four spirea plants since I have had no practice with creating hedges. Besides, I was already convinced that this tool could do it as well or better than any other could. It is really clever the way that this one tool can so easily become transformed into two. The only problem I had was trying to close the safety lock back together after I had opened it. It was just too tight and took too much pressure to push it back together enough to lock. My husband didn’t seem to have any trouble re-locking it, however, and it will probably move more easily after being used a few times.

This arrived from the vendor well sealed and kept secure in its own sturdy cardboard box. The parts inside were carefully wrapped to keep you from cutting yourself while handling to take the shipping wraps off and putting the long handles onto the main cutting shafts.Once you get it put together, this is a really impressive beast. You can use the smaller set of teeth to do smaller bushes or “just rotate the head†to invoke a much larger set of blades you can tackle bigger stalks — say in the 1†or 1 1/2†range (to not permanently bend your blades if you try much bigger branches). These are easy to grip, easy to change blades, they so far have easily cut thru correctly chosen stalks for the respective heads. They packaged these like they were shipping them to their own mother, a show of pride in manufacturing we don’t frequently see these days. The tools are not cheap & flimsy, but good steel & sturdy. We can’t speak yet to rust avoidance, but so far these are top notch.I’d order these again.

I don't have a lot of spare space in my backyard shed, so this type of dual-purpose tool is exactly what I look for. It's well made and converts with a simple flip of the handles. The grips are super comfortable, as well. I can see myself getting many years of service from this lopper/trimmer. Highly recommended, especially for Amazon's low listed selling price.
