The device came in on time but in the pack was some of the Q-link cover detached (see image). My guess is that happened during shipment, maybe handling, but I’ll advise a harder glue be used to hold it from factory (i had to attach it back). My Con:Also, when i wanted to insert the hard drive i noticed its a direct access to the motherboard, compared to MPC live2 which ensures the motherboard is well protected. If you drop a screw or misdirect a cable you might yank something off.My Pro:I love all the extra plug-in bundled. It makes buying it over the regular MPC-X worth it. Somehow the drum pads respond better compared to the live2, my opinion though. I’m a tactile fan, the fact that i got most of the second functions and menu functions already laid out on the buttons is a plus for me.Overall, Good device, and the wrist-rest makes for good comfort. Plus the retro look is beautiful as well.

I’ve been a long MPC enthusiast!! I had the mpc 2000xl which launched my production career. I then gave it up to go into being a “laptop producerâ€. Well I can honestly say I suffered from “beat tweaking†or becoming a “beat zombieâ€. This is when you spend countless unnecessary hours making a beat and you look like a zombie staring at the laptop moving all these virtual knobs and sliders to get this perfect, or this sounding like that, or that moving like this.Well the MPC X is the solution to the aforementioned diagnosis! The MPC X gets you back to making the beat and then moving on to the next!! I have literally disconnected from the computer when doing music and the beats are faster and song sequencing is faster and more concise and simplified. Literally, turn it on, pick a project, then start making music. It just eliminates the “tweaker/zombie†mentality and gets you into what matters most, the beat.Pros-Touch screen allows for fluid interaction between software/hardware, Standalone-no need to tether to computer, upgradabilty, internal effects are easy to use, inputs outputs, and there’s more just don’t feel like typing this longCons-YOU WILL NEED A INTERNAL SATA HARDDRIVE- 525g to be exact unless your sound library is 30years old then you’ll need 1tb, learning curve is steep to beginners (see pics MPC x does provide start up projects) but to MPC enthusiasts it will take you less than a day to learnOnce you develop your work flow it will be come a cinch to construct beats and songs. Great job Akai!! Ask me questions if you need convincing, if not just get it and dive in! ‘Mamba-Out’;)

Be honest not needed to get this model. It is superior to all. Mpc one and live 2 are same with software and basic functions. The work flow is much better on X.

This is a great product. I’ve considered buying an MPC for years but never committed because sounds were not included. But this standalone unit is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. Its a studio and controller all in one. Great job Akai!!

I’m what many would refer to as an MPC enthusiast. I’ve had every stand alone AKAI MPC with the exception of the 5000 and 500 so I know how an MPC is supposed to perform and the Akai MPC X is a true MPC. The basic sequencing functions are along the same line as it’s predecessors so anyone that’s familiar with a stand alone MPC can jump right into it. Of course, there is a learning curve due to the advancement of technology and additional features but with time and diligence anyone truly interested in production can wrap their mind around what this beast has to offer. Akai developers are constantly working to add features to the OS and improve the unit. Tech support at AKAI is doing a great job as well and must be applauded for their efforts. They’ve actually been known to walk myself and others through fixes, they’re easy to get a hold of and, in extreme cases, a specialist will do a remote session and solve your problems in a “hands on†fashion. My biggest concern, before I purchased the unit, was would the converters measure up to the converters of the Classic MPC 4000 but after listening to the X’s sound I have no issues. Though the X doesn’t feel like the 4K, in my opinion, the character and sound quality it produces feels good so it’s a win win for me. Some people may struggle with the price point but even though $2100 is nothing to sneeze at, the price is fair and actually somewhat of a bargain considering the only upgrade that needs to be made is the addition of a hard drive (I spent over 1K on expansions on my MPC 4000 just to get it maxed out). I gave the X 4 out of 5 stars because, in my mind, it’s not truly a stand alone device until AKAI finds a way to implement VST’s without the use of an external cpu but, besides that, I feel that the MPC X is fit to be be the centerpiece of any producers rig.

First of all, I've been producing hiphop for over 20 years. I've got an Roland MV8800 ( incredible machine even now it's dated ), FL studio, and have used the MPC one, MPC ren. This MPC X SE is really special, 4GB over the 2GB of the original, retro colour scheme, has £500 of plug in/instruments included, BURR Brown converters for even better sound. MPC 3.0 currently is amazing, it turns the MPC into a real DAW like FL or the MV8800.Special thanks to Amazon for putting this up brand new, ( all peels intact, never used, or registered) for half price, yes half price!! Amazing deal for a 10/10 sampler.

First of all it is great that I can buy an expensive machine on interest free monthly payments. I see this as value for money. This Akai MPC x se is a high quality performance machine with exceptional sound quality when paired with the right speaker system. Onboard memory has been ramped up and you can install an onboard storage drive allowing you to store more. Once you get into the workflow it is an easy machine to use.
