It was worth every nickel. I had a big job, about 500 feet of expansion joints. It saved time and the backing went to uniform depth. I'm not a contractor and recommend it for even smaller jobs. An excellent tool. I would also advise buying the backing off the internet. Home Depot and Lowes prices for backing are a little inflated.

Worked well and saved me time getting hundreds of feet of backer rod into my large driveway when I was filling my expansion joints. My only compliant is I don't think it should cost $40+. If you're laying down more than 200-300 feet of backer rod, I'd say it's worth it.

Are you kidding me, I wondered how I was going to put 1/4" diameter backer rod in the sawed expansion joints in my new patio...Google and Amazon saved me a lot of time.
